Exciting news for Scouting across our area! ⛺✨

First up, we are thrilled to announce that 3rd Gower is reopening their Cub pack in Reynoldston. If you have a young adventurer aged 8 to 10½ or are an adult volunteer looking to make new friends, build skills for life, and explore the outdoors, they want to hear from you

Secondly, we’ve made a slight restructure to the provision of Explorers across the Area, with the aim of providing a more varied and geographically spread range of units, giving young people greater choice about the type of Scouting that works best for them.

As part of this change, from this month Draig A***n Explorers will move into Swansea & Gower, meeting at Dunvant and Moorlakes across the year.

Draig A***n has evolved into a provision that particularly suits Scouts who thrive in a more tailored and relaxed environment, with a focus on being outdoors wherever weather and conditions allow.

The move of Draig A***n also creates space for the launch of a new Explorer Unit in Cwm Newydd, based in Llangyfelach. The unit is currently awaiting its official name, with more information to follow.

We now have five Explorer Units providing different opportunities for young people across Glamorgan West. So whether you're looking for local activities for younger kids or bigger adventures for teens, Scouting in our area is growing.

🏰 SANDCASTLES, SUNSET & SCOUTING! 🌅

Last night, the fantastic Explorer units from Sketty and Draig A***n took over Swansea Bay for our epic annual sandcastle competition!

From engineering masterpieces to creative architectural wonders (and maybe a few structural collapses along the way!), it was a brilliant evening filled with laughs, friendly rivalry, and great teamwork.

Check out the video below to see our Explorers in action! 👇🎬

What is Explorer Scouting?
It’s all about friendship, adventure, and stepping out of your comfort zone. Whether we're building sandcastles on the beach, hiking, learning survival skills, or planning international expeditions, there is never a dull moment.

If you are aged 14–18 and want to make new friends, learn skills for life, and be part of something amazing right here in Swansea, we’d love to welcome you!

Igniting Skills & Building Community! 🪵🔥
What a fantastic Saturday! We gathered for a hands-on Practical Skills Day, where our experienced leaders passed down essential outdoor knowledge to the next generation of leaders.

From mastering the art of the perfect spark to preparing a meal over an open flame, it was a day filled with learning, laughter, and a bit of woodsmoke!

What we covered:
Fire Lighting: Mastering different methods to get a flame going in any condition.

Outdoor Cooking: Taking "camp food" to the next level over the embers.

Knots & Lashings: The "strings" that hold our adventures together.

Tool Workshop: Safe and effective use of knives, axes, and saws.

A massive thank you to our mentors for sharing their expertise and to everyone who came along with such enthusiasm. Check out the highlights in the video below! 📽️👇
