Woodfield Equine Sanctuary REGISTERED CHARITY - 1192645

A home built on second chances. Now home to over 60 horses and ponies.
(1)

we continue to give second chances to equines who were unwanted, neglected, sick, injured or abandoned. Woodfield Animal Sanctuary is based in the Gower Peninsula in southwest Wales near Swansea on 20 acres of land for horses, ponies, sheep, lambs and cows. Robbie and David came to Wales to retire in 2013, but within a month , their first rescued ponies started to arrive! Every year they rescue , horses, sheep, lambs, cats, dogs and cows. Some have been mistreated, abandoned , and some are totally emaciated. They finally became a fully registered charity in 2020
Where possible they try to rehome the animals that come into their care, but this is not always an easy task due to the ponies often having both physical and mental damage . and in those cases the animals have to remain in the Sanctuary for the rest of their lives. They receive phone calls day and night from people asking for help with animals in desperate need and will always help where they can. Unlike other Sanctuaries who only allow a set number of rescues , Woodfield will never walk away , doing whatever they possibly can for any animal in urgent need

🚨WARNING – FAKE ACCOUNT🚨

PLEASE HELP US REPORT IT!

Unfortunately, it has been brought to our attention that someone has created a fake TikTok account impersonating Woodfield Equine Sanctuary.

This account is using our charity name, our logo and stealing our rescue videos, passing them off as their own.

Even more concerning, they have added a personal PayPal link, , to the account, encouraging people to donate under the impression that they are supporting Woodfield Equine Sanctuary.

We want to make it absolutely clear that this PayPal account has NO connection whatsoever to Woodfield Equine Sanctuary, and any money donated through it will NOT reach our charity.

We are asking our wonderful supporters to please help us get this account taken down.

The fake TikTok account is: .equine

The PayPal account being advertised is:

If you have TikTok, please search for this account, visit the profile and report it for impersonating Woodfield Equine Sanctuary.

We work incredibly hard to raise the funds needed to care for the horses and ponies who rely on us, and it is extremely upsetting to see someone using our rescue videos, our charity’s identity and the generosity of our supporters to collect donations.

Please DO NOT send any money to the PayPal account .

We would be extremely grateful if everyone could spare just a minute to report this account. Please also share this warning to help prevent anyone else from being misled.

Thank you for helping us protect Woodfield Equine Sanctuary and our supporters.

🎥🔔BEHIND THE SCENES🔔🎥

There are some little “toes” in need of attention!

As you can imagine, with so many horses and ponies in our care, over the years we’ve learned plenty of tricks of the trade from some of the best vets we’ve had the pleasure of working alongside, not only when it comes to caring for our horses and ponies, but our rescue sheep too!

And as most of you will know, although Woodfield is now an equine sanctuary, we still have a few rescue sheep in our care from over the years.

And if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that sheep certainly know how to keep us busy!

Sheep can be particularly difficult to manage when it comes to their feet. Whether it’s hot and dry or cold and wet, changes in ground conditions can cause all sorts of problems, particularly between their “toes”.

At this time of year, with the ground constantly changing from hard to soft as the weather changes, keeping on top of their foot health can be a real challenge.

One of our rescue sheep, Roman, has recently been struggling with lameness, so we thought we’d take you behind the scenes and show you a little of what goes into treating a sheep with sore feet.

Unfortunately, it’s not always something that can be sorted in a day. Depending on the cause, treatment can involve antibiotics, pain relief and antibiotic spray applied between their “toes”, with ongoing care over several days until things start to improve.

Making sure they’re on suitable ground, that’s neither too hard nor too soft, is also an important part of helping them recover.

Over the years, we’ve been fortunate enough to learn a great deal from the wonderful vets we’ve worked with, and that knowledge has been invaluable when it comes to caring for all the different animals we’ve rescued.

So join us today as we give Roman some much-needed attention and hopefully get her feeling a little more comfortable on her feet!

🎉‼️YOU BROKE THE RECORD!‼️🎉

I BET YOU DIDN’T KNOW THIS!

Did you know that every time you like, comment on or share one of our posts, or sit down and watch one of our videos, you’re helping to raise money for the horses and ponies in our care?

And the best part? It doesn’t cost you a penny!

Since January this year, Woodfield Equine Sanctuary has been receiving payments from Facebook through its content monetisation programme.

And last month, you broke our record!

An incredible £735.75 raised in September, simply through your continued support and engagement with our page!

We know that sometimes adverts pop up when you’re watching our videos, and yes, they can be a little annoying! But those adverts are one of the ways Facebook generates revenue, some of which is paid to us.

So, when you spend a few minutes watching our rescue videos, leaving a comment, giving us a like or sharing our posts with your friends, you’re helping us far more than you might realise.

Here’s how much we’ve received from Facebook each month since we started:

January – £38
February – £441
March – £293
April – £377
May – £398
June – £265
July – £335
August – £375
September – £735.75 – OUR RECORD MONTH!

Over the past nine months, you’ve helped us raise £3,338.99 through Facebook!

That’s money which goes directly towards caring for the horses and ponies who rely on us every single day.

And what’s so wonderful about this is that you don’t have to make a financial donation to help us. We appreciate that not everybody is in a position to donate, particularly with the cost of living these days.

But if you have a few minutes to spare, you can still make a difference.

Keep liking, keep commenting, keep sharing and, most importantly, keep watching our videos!

The more people we reach, the more opportunities we have to raise funds and share the work we do here at Woodfield.

Thank you to every single one of you. You really are an incredible bunch, and we couldn’t do what we do without your continued support.

From all of us here at Woodfield, THANK YOU!

❤️MARES AND FOALS UPDATE❤️

Three months ago, we welcomed two beautiful mares into our care following their seizure by the authorities over serious concerns for their welfare.

🟥ARRIVAL VIDEO HERE🟥

Penelope and Rhea were both heavily pregnant at the time, and thankfully, they were given their second chance before their babies arrived.

Not long after reaching the safety of Woodfield, two beautiful foals, Stanley and Quincy, were born. Whilst their mothers had experienced hardship, these two little boys would never have to know that same life.

Over the last three months, we’ve worked incredibly hard to get these lovely little families back to the condition they should be in. From good nutrition and veterinary care to much-needed farrier attention, they’ve certainly come a long way!

And now, we have some wonderful news!

We finally feel they’re ready for their next little adventure, and thanks to one of our fabulous supporters, they’ve been offered some beautiful off-site grazing for the next month.

With winter fast approaching, there’s no better way to prepare them than with plenty of lovely grass and the opportunity to enjoy a few more weeks out in the fields before returning home to Woodfield.

So today, we’re taking you along as we load up our two mares and their foals and deliver them to their temporary new home.

And just wait until you see the moment they’re released into their beautiful new field!

A huge thank you to our wonderful supporter for making this possible, and to everyone who has helped us give these four beautiful equines the second chance they so desperately needed.

Enjoy your holidays, Penelope, Rhea, Stanley and Quincy. You’ve certainly earned them!

If you’d like to help us continue giving second chances to equines like these four, please consider becoming a monthly donor. No matter how small the amount, your support helps us provide the care our horses and ponies rely on every single day.

You can become a monthly donor or make a one-off donation using the link below.

Thank you for your continued support.

🚨🚨AMAZON PRIME DAYS🚨🚨

Today and tomorrow are Amazon Prime Days, which means if you’re an Amazon Prime member, you may be able to pick up some great deals from our Amazon Wishlist.

This time, our wishlist isn’t just about things for the horses. Going into winter, we’re also desperately in need of some new yard equipment to help us with the day-to-day jobs — shavings forks, straw forks, wheelbarrows and other tools that get used constantly here.

We’ve already had some wonderful deliveries arrive, including a brand-new shavings fork and a wheelbarrow, as well as lots of carrots for the ponies and bags of ReadyGrass. Thank you so much to everyone who has already sent something our way.

Going into winter, we also try our hardest to build up a good stock of horse licks. These are brilliant for keeping our horses and ponies occupied during those long, cold winter days when they’re spending much more time indoors.

So, if anyone would like to donate a lick, some treats, feed or perhaps one of the much-needed tools for the yard, you can find them all on our Amazon Wishlist.

Everything on there is something we genuinely need and will put straight to use.

The link is below.

Thank you again for all your support. It really is appreciated by everyone here at Woodfield.

🎉🎉❤️SHE’S FREE!!❤️🎉🎉

After exactly one month in our care, today Wiktoria finally gets the freedom she deserves.

One month ago, information was passed to us about a two-year-old filly desperately in need of a second chance.

We were told that when she was just two months old, Wiktoria had been kicked in the head, sustaining a terrible injury to her eye. That injury had been left untreated, and almost two years later she was still living with the consequences.

As we learned more about her situation, we knew we needed to get her safe as quickly as possible. Plans were put into motion, Wiktoria was secured and shortly afterwards she was surrendered into our care.

We already knew about her eye, but when we collected her there was another huge concern — an untreated injury to her hind leg.

Its location was particularly worrying, and until our vet could properly assess it, we simply didn’t know how much damage had been done or what structures could have been involved.

Thankfully, Wiktoria had been incredibly lucky.

But the wound still needed time to heal.

She was unsure, inexperienced and incredibly naive to the world around her. At just two years old, she knew so little, yet underneath it all was the sweetest little filly trying to work out what was happening and who she could trust.

And she came around incredibly quickly.

Within just 24 hours, we started seeing Wiktoria’s real personality. She wanted to be with us constantly. While most horses given the opportunity would wander off looking for grass, Wiktoria chose us instead.

Wherever you turned, there she was.

As the weeks passed, we gradually increased what she was allowed to do, but we weren’t prepared to take any chances with that leg. After such a lucky escape, we wanted to be absolutely sure that wound was closed and ready before giving her the freedom she had been patiently waiting for.

Today, exactly one month after arriving at Woodfield, that day finally came.

And we think you’ll agree, those zoomies were definitely worth waiting for!

Wiktoria still has a long way to go with us. Her damaged eye still needs to be dealt with, including the surgery ahead of her, and there is plenty more to come in her rehabilitation.

Wiktoria has only got this far because of your support.

The biggest way you can support Woodfield and help us continue being here for horses like Wiktoria is by becoming a monthly donor.

Monthly donations give us a regular and reliable income that we can depend on. They help us meet the everyday costs of caring for the ever-growing number of horses and ponies relying on us, while allowing us to continue saying yes when another horse desperately needs that second chance.

No matter how small the amount, every monthly donation collectively makes an enormous difference to us.

If you would like to become a monthly donor, please follow the link below.

Thank you, as always, for all your support.

❤️🐴🐴GOOD MORNING!🐴🐴❤️

What better way to spend a Sunday morning than taking the next step in a new friendship?

Valley and Xara really are becoming the perfect pair!

They also clearly share the same love for mud and dirt, and there’s certainly no shortage of that for them to roll around in here in the garden!

It’s lovely watching their friendship grow and seeing them both so settled and content in each other’s company.

We think these two are going to be very good for each other!
