We wholeheartedly agree with this statement from EYST. A reminder to all to reach out to your friends, colleagues and neighbours to check in with them.
It is important to report racist incidents, so they are recorded and the appropriate services can respond. However, please do not put yourself in dangerous situations. If you are scared or concerned about reporting incidents, reach out to EYST who can support you through this process or report on your behalf.
We need to continue supporting each other to keep our communities safe for all 🫶🏼
In light of the recent rise in far‑right racist violence and targeted attacks, we encourage everyone to check in with one another.
Many ethnic minority colleagues and communities are experiencing fear and uncertainty. At EYST, we are receiving a high volume of reports across Wales, highlighting the seriousness of what people are facing.
This is a safeguarding issue and a shared responsibility.
We must name racism for what it is, not minimise it, and ensure it is properly recorded and acted on.
