It’s as comprehensive as I can make it, but it’s not exhaustive. So if you’ve any events coming up that I’ve missed, drop a DM.

Very proud to be part of this top 3

SwanScene is, and has been, my passion project for almost 4 years. So it’s nice to be recognised for that.

Being part of the Swansea Pride team, seeing how hard we all work to put on Wales’ largest FREE pride event, and to see that work recognised is lovely.

I’ve worked for Progress Cymru Counselling, and still collaborate with them via SwanScene so it’s lush to see their hard work recognised too.

Whoever wins on 12th, I feel like we’ve all won already.

Hey all. I’m mindful I’ve not been as active on our socials or app as late so just wanted to let folks know where I’m at.

Honestly, I’ve been overwhelmed, depressed and struggling to manage life in general. It got to the point where I genuinely toyed with shutting SwanScene completely, but given the climate we live in and the feedback I get from the community, I think a FREE resource that shares information is needed more than ever. So I’ve decided to keep it going.

I’m getting back on top of things slowly but will need to make some changes.

To help I’ve closed the Facebook group. Fear not I’ll still be using our Insta and pages, though most of my energy will go into keeping the app updated. If you haven’t already done so, please download our FREE web app via https://app.swanscene.org.uk (link is in the bio)

Moving forward if you’ve any events you want me to share, please tag SwanScene, DM or add us as a collaborator. I’ll then upload your event to the app too. I won’t be chasing folk tho - if you want me to share it, please get the info to me.

I’ll be doing a sense check with folk already listed in the directory over the next few weeks and adding any outstanding requests next week. Moving forward if anyone wants listed in the directory, you MUST complete the registration form on the app.

And given there’s so many events going on, I’ve decided to limit what events I run under the SwanScene banner. This avoids repetition/competition, and frees up time for me to actually get out and enjoy some of these events ☺️

For now, brunch club will continue to run but given numbers have dwindled quite drastically I’ll need to take a decision about its future over the summer. Next Brunch Club is Sunday 14 June.

I’ll be running an annual SwanScene ONE networking event (details TBC) and QueerCon is booked in for 3rd October (more details to come).

There’s a summer walk and talk group coming too.

Pride is rooted in protest; a protest against a heteronormative, cisgendered world that tries to oppress q***r folk and treat us like second class citizens.

You’d like to think that in 2026 the world had moved on, and in some ways it has. But q***r rights in 2026 are fragile at best. There’s been a global political and social shift that is blatantly anti-q***r; Supreme Court judgement, EHRC guidance, ban on pubity blockers for trans+ youth, defunding and lack of support for pride events all demonstrate this.

Then there’s the hate on social media; cries about saving the kids, support for veterans and “where’s straight pride?”

All dog-whistling; q***r folk aren’t asking for rights at the expense of anyone else, we’re asking for equity with everyone else.

So Pride in 2026 is more important then ever. It’s still a protest, and at a time our community is trying to be silenced, we need to be louder and prouder than ever!

We also need to celebrate the wonderful diversity of our community, the contribution we collectively make to this world and how amazing we are. So support your prides, support your q***r businesses and artists. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

I recognise the latest draft guidance from the EHRC is deeply troubling and concerning for Trans, Nonbinary and Gender Nonconforming Folk.

There are a number of issues with the draft guidance that failure to consider that Trans+ folk are still protected under Equality legislation, the impracticalities of how it would be implemented and the risks to businesses of adopting discriminatory guidance. I don’t intend to rehearse those issues further as there are far more qualified folk than me already looking at it, and already publishing information. I’ll share that as and when I get it.

It is still draft guidance though. It only becomes statutory guidance if it doesn’t go challenged in parliament.

So this is my plea - contact your MPs, raise your concerns, make as much noise as you can so that it doesn’t go unchallenged. We have to speak up for Trans+ folk, and now is the time to do that!
