A GRAND AMBITION FOR SWANSEA
Grand Ambition is a new and exciting creative collective based at The Grand Theatre focusing on a new perspective to capture the arts through theSwansea lens. It’s a collaboration with Swansea City Council and Swansea based professional artists - Richard Mylan, Steve Balsamo, Michelle McTernan and Christian Patterson. We will focus on its cultural and diverse communiti

es and champion the unheard voices of its people as well as nurture and support emerging and established artists. We will be working with local schools and utilising local freelancers and organisations that are passionate about celebrating our city’s history as well as carving out an exciting and ambitious future.

Set in a Comprehensive School changing room, Physical Education explores how masculinity and lad culture affects young men in school. The play deals with power, sexuality and the importance of friendship. Poignant, funny and at times excruciatingly cruel and caustic, Physical Education showcases the vulnerability and volatile nature of a teenage locker room.

We are all deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Robert Francis Davies. Robert was a true Swansea legend and a huge supporter of the arts, having founded Harry’s Youth Theatre at the Swansea Grand Theatre. He was a passionate champion of Swansea bands, Welsh music, and the arts as a whole. He was instrumental in supporting Grand Ambition from day one, recognising the importance and power of new theatre in telling the stories of his beloved Swansea.
We are sending so much love to all his family and friends. His passion, generosity and belief in Swansea’s creative spirit will never be forgotten. Rest In Peace. ♥️
