🧡 World Su***de Prevention Day, September 10th

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day. This year’s theme is “Changing the Narrative on Su***de”, with the call to “Start the Conversation.”

Talking about su***de can feel difficult, especially when you’re worried about a child or young person. You might worry that talking about it with a child or young person is too risky. But starting a conversation, listening without judgement and letting them know they don’t have to face difficult feelings alone can actually be life saving.

If you’re a parent or carer in Swansea, Neath or Port Talbot and you’re worried about a child or young person, tidyMinds has information and support to help.

👉 Our Urgent help page will help you to find out what to do and where to get help if you’re worried about a young person’s immediate safety.

👉 Feel like hurting yourself provides Information for young people about self-harm, difficult feelings and where to find support and guidance and resources for parents, carers and supporting professionals.

👉 Talking about mental health: Not sure how to start a conversation about mental health with your child? Our parent and carer resources include practical advice on talking to children and young people about their mental health and helping them feel able to open up.

You don’t need to have all the answers. Starting the conversation can be a powerful first step. 💛
