Rydym wrth ein bodd i dderbyn cyllid gan Llywodraeth Cymru (Rownd 5) ar gyfer Prosiect SIARC!
We’re absolutely thrilled to receive funding from the Welsh Government (Round 5) for Project SIARC!

This funding will allow us to continue and expand our collaborative work with local communities around Pen Llŷn a’r Sarnau SAC over the next 3 years, including:

🎣 Building on fisher integrated research, tagging and tracking key shark species, to better understand their movements and habitat use
🌊 Creating an Ocean Observatory, generating vital environmental and movement data to help understand Wales’ marine protected sites and the species that depend on them
🦈 Co-developing accessible opportunities for people of all ages to discover and develop skills in marine conservation
🤝 Expanding community-led activities that connect people with the marine environment, and amplify local voices
~ We’re excited to continue building a collaborative, community-driven approach, and showcasing and celebrating the incredible shark, skate and ray species off the coast of Wales! 🩵

This week we loved seeing the fantastic marine displays created by pupils from two of the Primary Schools involved in our 3D printing programme with Swansea University .
The students showcased their creativity and ‘sharky’ knowledge at Swansea University’s Bay Campus, sharing their work with university students and staff - and they did an amazing job.
They also had the chance to visit the VR lab, where they took part in a virtual eggcase hunt 🥽🦈. Another brilliant way to explore marine science in a hands-on, engaging way!
A huge well done to the classes involved from Ysgol Betws and Blaenhonddan Primary School👏
Yr wythnos hon roeddem wrth ein bodd yn gweld arddangosfeydd gwych am y môr gan ddisgyblion o ddwy o’r ysgolion cynradd sy’n rhan o’n rhaglen argraffu 3D gyda Prifysgol Abertawe .
Roedd creadigrwydd a gwybodaeth y disgyblion yn amlwg ar Gampws y Bae, Prifysgol Abertawe – lle buon nhw’n dangos eu gwaith sydd “môr” wych i fyfyrwyr a staff y brifysgol!
Cawsant gyfle hefyd i ymweld â’r labordy rhithwir, lle cymeron nhw ran mewn helfa casys wyau rhithwir 🥽🦈. Ffordd wych ac ymarferol o ddysgu am wyddoniaeth y môr!

🩵 Diolch i bawb a ymunodd â ni yn Neuadd Dyfi, Aberdyfi ddydd Mawrth! Thank you to everyone who joined us at Neuadd Dyfi, Aberdyfi on Tuesday! 🩵

We loved meeting you all and sharing the amazing world of sharks, skates, rays and the wider marine life found along our local coastline.
~ From diving into a VR eggcase hunt, to informative stands from the North Wales Wildlife Trust and Y Môr a Ni: Welsh Ocean Literacy Coalition , showcasing everything from shoreline finds and eggcases to the importance of seagrass habitats.
Thanks to everyone who stayed for the evening talks:
🦈 We explored Project SIARC’s research taking place in the area to better understand local shark, skate and ray species.
🏖️ We learned about eggcases and citizen science, including how you can get involved.
🌊 And we delved into Ocean Literacy in Wales, and the importance of our relationship with the sea.
~ We’re incredibly grateful for the community’s passion and support, which made the event such a success. 🙌

We’re joining The National Lottery Heritage Fund in celebrating heritage treasures!
~ Did you know those little “mermaid’s purses” you can find on Welsh beaches are eggcases from skates and from some species of shark too? Each one is a clue to the incredible marine life that lives around our coast, that have been an important part of Wales’s natural heritage for centuries.
