We would like to thank the Kent Police Community Safety unit for acting upon information shared with them by Residents and ourselves with regardโ€™s to issues effecting Swanscombe Residents on a day to day basis.

Most importantly this shows how important it is for Residents to make sure they are reporting incidents to Kent Police no matter how small or big as if the police are not aware they can not tackle the issues we are all dealing with.

Many thanks

As many may already be aware today (Wednesday 27th May 2026) there was a major incident that took place in Swanscombe, on the footpath that leads from Stanhope Road down into Northfleet.

We would like to send our deepest condolences to the family, friends and those affected by the incident that took place today.

We would also like to thank the members of our team who stepped up and went out to try and help with traffic management on Stanhope Road (while emergency services were trying to make there way to scene), as well as the fast response for all the emergency services who attended todayโ€™s incident.

When such a situation takes place it makes people panic / worry and our team were out and visible within the community to help keep things moving to prevent anything further from occurring.

We understand how this type of incident may have effected those who may have been present and or witnessed the incident and we would like to remind all that if any support is required we are always willing to help get those effected in contact with the relevant organisations. We are only a private message / email away.

Just a gentle reminder to all especially parents with children who may be out having fun during the hot weather we are currently experiencing to remind children of the dangers of swimming in lakes and rivers.

Many thanks

Sadly due to repeated criminal damage being caused to the Go2 buses in Swanscombe.

Go2 will not be running any buses around Swanscombe.

This has had a massive effect on those who rely on these buses for transportation to work etc.

We ask that if you know any information about who may be responsible for causing the damage to the Go2 buses to contact us directly and all information will kept private and confidential. Alternatively you can contact 101 and provide any information about the incidents directly to Kent Police.

Thursday evening (Thursday 9th April 2026), a member of our Team (Lewis) attended the Swanscombe & Greenhithe Residents Association Public Meeting regarding the Galley Hill closure.

Lewis has been working hard on behalf of Swanscombe Neighbourhood Watch with dealing with HGVs that have been ignoring the weight restrictions in place in Swanscombe and helping Swanscombe Residents that have had properties and cars damaged due to HGVs getting themselves stuck in Swanscombeโ€™s narrow streets.

Lewis made sure to show the panel and those present the upset and issues Swanscombe Residents face on a day to day basis due to the closure of Galley Hill.

On the panel was MP Jim Dickson, KCC project manager Toby Howe, KCC Highways management deputy, and Ian Burton (People of Stanhope).

KCC stated at the meeting yesterday evening that work will NOT start on Galley Hill before at least mid 2030, once all investigations and correct process has taken place, but KCC updated Swanscombe Residents on the extensive ground investigations that are taking place.

โ€œKCC has been clear that Galley Hill Road will be repaired. However, due to the scale of the engineering challenge, along with planning and environmental requirements, the current timeline indicates completion later in the decade. While this is understandably frustrating, it reflects the complexity of delivering a safe and lasting solution.โ€ - Statement from KCC Project manager Toby Howe,

MP Jim Dickson stated the Government will be releasing the โ€˜1bn Transport structure fundโ€™ within the next 6 weeks and KCC need to make sure the bid for a sum of the money to help with the project cost which at the moment stands at 50 million pounds but this could increase with investigations, legal costs and the actual cost to finish Galley Hill.

Unfortunately there does not look like there is any plans to get Galley Hill fixed any time soon. For Swanscombe Residents and those in surrounding areas, this is not good enough, and we will continue to put pressure on the relevant partners to make sure Swanscombe Residents voices are heard.

Swanscombe Neighbourhood Watch will be continuing to work alongside our partner organisations and agencies to ensure the effects of the Galley Hill closure are continued to be raised to the relevant partners, as well as this we will continue to support Swanscombe Residents with the ongoing issues associated with the Galley Hill closure.

We would like to thank Dawn Johnson from Swanscombe and Greenhithe Residents' Association for inviting us to have someone from our SNW Team on the panel, to share the work we have been doing in Swanscombe with regards to the Galley Hill closure, and our partnership with Swanscombe Lorry Watch.

Many thanks
