Home-Start Norfolk Home-Start Norfolk volunteers provide nurturing support to parents & help children to thrive.

Home-Start Norfolk is a voluntary charity recruiting peer support volunteers in Norfolk to support families with children under 5 in their own homes. By providing emotional, practical and nurturing support to parents when their babies and children are in the critical early years, we are helping parents to provide loving, safe and secure homes in order for their children to thrive.

We know that these transitions can feel like a lot, so we’ve put together a FREE Starting School & Nursery Pack with some practical tips, gentle advice and reassurance to help make the transition feel that little bit easier, for you and your little one. 💜

Sometimes families just need an extra pair of hands.

Someone to listen. Someone to encourage. Someone to play with the children or simply be there when things feel difficult.

Our volunteers give families with children under five their time, kindness and support, helping parents feel more confident and less alone.

You don't need to be an expert, and you don't need to have all the answers. You just need to care. Full training and ongoing support are provided.

Could you spare 2 hours a week to make a difference to a family in Norfolk?

Our volunteers give families with young children something incredibly valuable: their time!

Just two hours could mean:
💜 Playing with the children, giving parents some breathing space
🧡 Encouraging a parent
💜 Offering practical support
🧡 Being there to listen

It might not sound like much, but for a family who is struggling, having someone there can make a huge difference.

You don't need to be an expert. You just need to care. We provide full training and ongoing support, so you won't be doing it alone. Be that extra pair of hands.

You don't need to be a childcare expert, have previous volunteering experience or have all the answers.

What you do need is kindness, patience, reliability and a willingness to listen.

We'll provide the training, guidance and ongoing support you need to become an extra pair of hands for a family.

You could be the person who listens, encourages, plays, reassures and helps a parent feel more confident.

You don't need to be an expert. You just need to care. 🥰

💜 So, what does a Home-Start volunteer actually do?

It could be as simple as sitting down with a parent for a cup of tea and a chat, listening when things feel difficult, playing with the children, accompanying a parent to a group or appointment, or offering a little reassurance and encouragement.

Our volunteers don't need to have all the answers. They just need to be kind, patient, reliable and willing to be there!

Because sometimes, having someone beside you can make all the difference.

Could you help us grow and support the amazing volunteers who make a difference to families across Norfolk?

We’re looking for a Volunteer Engagement Co-ordinator to recruit, train, support and engage our volunteer community.

You’ll build relationships with volunteers and community partners, develop volunteering opportunities and help ensure our volunteers feel valued and supported.

If you’re passionate about people, community and making a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
