PC Harvey and PC Bennett have been patrolling local hotspots following conversations with concerned residents. Officers stopped and searched a male and his vehicle on Arleston Lane following checks made on police systems. A search of vehicle resulted in the finding of some cannabis for which the male is now being dealt with for. SNT Officers are committed to continue patrolling our rural areas as well as our built up villages to ensure ASB and drug abuse is tackled.

This week, as part of the national Operation Sceptre knife crime week of action, we are highlighting the work we do year-round to tackle knife crime. Whilst we know it is the minority of people who think it is acceptable to carry a knife, it can have devastating consequences when they do.

So far this week we have:-

🌳 Completed knife sweeps throughout all areas to check for any discarded knives or weapons and safely dispose of them, keeping them from getting into the wrong hands- non located this far, during these knife sweeps we have added the temporary chalk spray stencils to highlight - PERMISSION GIVEN to spray.
🚮 Held a Joint Street meet /knife amnesty bin with South Derbyshire Community Safety Partnership Community safety officer on the Delph Swadlincote and one on High st Melbourne
👮👮‍♀️Completed patrols in known ASB hotspot areas
🏪 Visited shops that sell knives giving them leaflets on Knife crime and the law to remind staff selling and customers buying.
😛 Visited Friday Night project Youth Club to engage with youths present giving advice and having some positive discussions around knife crime as part of the national Operation Sceptre week.
🏫 Schools :- We’re keen to talk to young people about the impact that knife crime can have and ways to support our plea to , this week we’ve been at schools across South Derbyshire each day talking to children as part of Operation Sceptre. By talking to schools about the impact and answering their questions, we can educate people on the many ways , and together we can keep knife crime out of the county. Thank you to the children and teachers for their engagement this week we had some very good discussions and questions!

This is just a sample of work we have conducted this week, not all is suitable for sharing.

If you have any questions or concerns about knife crime, please speak to the team as you see them out and about in your area this week. Alternatively, speak to us by calling 101 or through the Live Chat function on our website, where you will speak to one of our call handlers.

SNT are increasing patrols around the Melbourne area due to an increase in ASB and speeding. ASB in the Melbourne area set as a Neighbourhood priority which we posted about recently.

As the weather gets warmer, we are seeing more bikes taking to the roads and a small minority of road users using the villages and lanes as race tracks.

This biker was seen travelling out of Melbourne at speed, overtaking other road users. Rider stopped and dealt with for this matter.

Patrols around Foremark and Calke areas following concerns raised.

👮‍♂️ We have been conducting Patrols due to issues around the Foremark Reservoir area which have included fire’s being set. During one of our patrols a vehicle is located with 2 males present intending to get into the locked grounds and have a fire. Both are searched under misuse of drugs act due to drug paraphernalia found in vehicle and passenger having just used. Further patrols ongoing.

🍩 SNT responded to multiple calls of vehicles attempting to complete donuts in the round car park of Calke Abbey. On arrival a few minutes later, we were presented with this M4 attempting a very unimpressive stunt in sport+ mode despite the carpark being used by walkers parking there.
Driver handed a section 59 warning placed on him and the vehicle, with him also being made to fit his number plate back on at scene before he is fined.
