A group of juniors and grownups from Swadlincote junior parkrun had a fantastic time this morning planting trees at the field opposite Maurice Lea Park today. Thanks to Hollie and the team from the National Forest Company for inviting Swadlincote junior parkrun along. We look forward to watching them grow! 🌱🌱🌱

We have several bits of amazing news! As some of you know, Dennis and Donna have been helping Nicola from the Harworth group (who own Coronation park) to organise a fun festive community fun run. Unfortunately, this event had to be postponed. We now have a new date- the 9th of February, so book on here https://www.eventbrite.com/e/rearranged-santa-dash-fun-run-2025-tickets-1113573511349 for your free place at our new local park.

The second, and most incredible bit… to say thank you for helping, The Harworth group have generously bought a mobile defib and first aid kit for us to use at our event and at clubs and races we are associated with during the week. This was £1000 so is a massive gesture, and one we are truly grateful for. We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Nicola and everyone at Harworth for their amazing generosity. As you may all be aware, we have been fundraising for a new defib, with several members of our team taking part in the Beat the Streets and winning vouchers towards this goal. We also had a lovely donation of £125 from Swad Joggers to help our fundraising efforts to say thank you for our help organising the Beat the Streets fun run a few months ago. A huge thank you to them too! We will use the funds from these efforts to buy the paediatric pads that will be needed in addition to the kit. Thanks to everyone for their fundraising efforts and support so far. What a wonderful way to end the year! 🎉

Super Christmas Competition🌟

Hi everyone
A last call for our competition So far we have a fantastic 40 entrants pledge entry. We still need 70 more to cover costs of the prizes. If we don’t have enough entrants by the end of November we will, unfortunately, have to pull the plug and abandon the competition. For those who aren’t aware of the competition here are the details once more.

The friends of Swadlincote junior parkrun are holding a Super Christmas Competition. Entries are limited to 110 people and there are 10 brilliant prizes on offer which, as you will realise gives you approximately a 1 in 10 chance of winning and getting more than your entry fee back!
The prizes are as follows all in Decathlon vouchers, so ideal for Christmas presents or to buy yourself some much-desired kit for your winter runs!

1 x £150; 2 x £100; 2 x £50; 1 x £30; 3 x £20; 1x £10.

All you have to do is buy an entry to our simple competition, answer the three simple questions, and pay the £5 entry fee. As soon as all 110 tickets are sold all correct entries will be put into an independent draw and the prizes will be distributed.

Initially we are just taking names and contact details of those who would be interested in taking part, and once we have sufficient, we will contact you for your entry fee and supply the official entry form to you.

All the funds will be going towards buying a portable defibrillator unit, which will be used at junior parkrun event, but which could, by request, possibly be made available for our local clubs to loan for any major events they are running. The prizes are in Decathlon vouchers, so ideal for Christmas presents or to buy yourself some much-desired kit for your winter runs! They are as follows:
