People Express Arts charity empowering people through arts, creativity and fun! Arts Council England NPO.

People Express gives individuals, groups and communities the chance to use the arts for personal development and to learn new skills, including communication and team building. Groups can develop and run their own projects raising aspirations and benefiting the whole community.

Swad you are INCREDIBLE! Thank you for coming out in force and making our 2nd so special 🩵

It was an amazing celebration of local heritage, creativity, and community spirit. From inspiring makers to incredible performers, it really was a joy to see so much talent together in one place.

A special thank you to our makers, venues, partners, and volunteers who made it all possible!

Derbyshire Makes Swadlincote is back on Saturday 25 April 2026, for another fun-filled day of creativity, community and hands-on making in Swad town centre. 
This year we invite you to explore the stories, skills and industries that shaped South Derbyshire, and see how they continue to inspire creativity today.
From mining and pottery to textiles and flax-growing, discover how local heritage lives on through contemporary makers, hands-on workshops and creative projects across Swadlincote town centre. Meet the people keeping these skills alive, uncover hidden stories, and try your hand at making something yourself.
Events will take place across Sharpe’s Pottery Museum, the Magic Attic, the Town Hall, the Delph, the High Street & Pocket Park, and Swadlincote Library, creating a trail of heritage, making and discovery.
Whether you’re interested in local history, curious about traditional crafts, or excited by how the past shapes the “here and now”, there’s something to explore.

🎶 We’re bringing people together through the joy of music 🎶

Groove On is a welcoming, supportive series of music making workshops designed for people living with Dementia and memory loss. 💜 Carers, friends, and family are warmly welcome too. No musical experience needed, just a love of rhythm, melody, and good company!

Expect live music, singalongs, hands-on instruments, gentle activities to spark connection, and of course plenty of tea, biscuits, and time to chat. ☕🍪

🎶 Sessions start on Monday 20th Oct, 10.30am to 12.30pm at The Old Post Centre in Newhall.
