Promoting good well-being by resilience through nature. To join him in what ever or where ever heaven may be.

https://www.justgiving.com/page/john-bell-aka-dadpool-su***de-prevention Losing a child is said to be the worst trauma any parent will be subjected to. Charity Director: John Bell

After John lost his 15 year son, Jake Bell, on the 17th July 2020, all he wanted to do was find a way to be with him again. This meant visiting the darkest place in his mind; a place no one should have to go. It affecte

d his mental well-being, resulting in negative repercussions for himself and his family.

Through suffering this level of grief and trauma and finding solace in the mountains and nature reserves through the first year of his grief, he final came to terms with the fact that there were two ways he could be with him again:

1. To carry on living everyday with joy and compassion in his heart from the love he has for is boy.

To join him in the afterlife is no longer an option for Jake's dad, it is about seeing other alternatives and showing others that we can come through our trauma and that there is hope to find joy again. John has chosen to dedicate his life to sharing his love for Jake and use the strength from that love to help others.

Being Ex-Army, he spent the first year after Jake's passing, pushing himself through physical challenges to counter balance his mental struggles. This led to John being able to find a place of solitude in the great outdoors and building resilience through nature. This story shows what a father is capable of, with an aim to achieve something truly beautiful as a legacy to his boy. Through the love he has for his son, John wants to make sure that no one else has to suffer the way he is suffering. He knows that Jake is with him all the way, in his heart and memories, guiding him to help others.

Everyone has a right to feel happy, peaceful, safe and loved. Why would we want to have a negative impact on others when we can have a positive impact, showing care, kindness, respect and compassion and to lift each other up.

𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟰 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗲 💚💛

At Walking 4 Hope, we believe nobody should have to face life's challenges alone.

That's why every week we provide Talking 4 Hope, a welcoming peer support group for adults aged 18+, offering a safe space to talk, listen and connect with others.

Whether you're joining us for the first time or you're one of our regular attendees, you'll always receive a warm welcome.

Our aim is simple:

💚 To provide a safe environment

💚 To encourage respectful and non-judgemental conversations

💚 To remind people that they are not alone

💚 To create a space where everyone feels heard and valued

There is no pressure to speak, no expectation to share more than you're comfortable with, and no requirement to be in crisis.

Sometimes the most important step is simply walking through the door.

☕ Drinks and snacks are provided.

🚌 Shuttle transport is available from Sutton Bus Station and Mansfield Bus Station for those who may struggle with transport. Please contact us for details and availability.

📅 Tonight at 7:00pm

A safe place to talk. A safe place to listen. A safe place to be yourself.

Sometimes people don't attend support groups because they worry they won't know what to say.

The truth is, you don't need to have all the answers, the perfect words, or even know where to start.

Talking 4 Hope is a welcoming peer support group for adults aged 18+, where you can talk, listen, share your experiences, or simply be around people who understand that life isn't always easy.

There's no pressure, no judgement, and no expectation to share more than you're comfortable with.

Tonight's discussion includes:

1️⃣ What's your name and what's a positive reason for coming tonight?

2️⃣ How has your week been?

3️⃣ What's one positive from your week?

4️⃣ Is there anything you'd like to get off your chest?

5️⃣ What skill would you love to learn and why?

6️⃣ What's one thing you're going to do for yourself this week?

🚌 Transport available

We understand that transport can sometimes be a barrier to getting support. A shuttle service is available from:

📍 Sutton Bus Station
📍 Mansfield Bus Station

Please contact John Bell from the Walking 4 Hope team directly for further information and availability.

𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗔𝗟 𝗙𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗦𝗘𝗥 𝗣𝗔𝗖𝗞 💚💛

We are incredibly proud to be sending out our very first official Walking 4 Hope Fundraiser Pack to James Hankins, who is taking on the incredible challenge of completing the Inverness 24 Hour Walkathon in support of our charity.

James has already started raising funds and awareness, and we cannot thank him enough for choosing to support Walking 4 Hope. Every fundraiser who stands alongside us helps us continue providing support, activities, and opportunities for people who may be struggling.

If you are in or around Inverness and happen to see James during his challenge, please give him a cheer, a wave, or a few words of encouragement. Sometimes a small act of kindness can make a huge difference when the miles start to add up.

If you would like to support James, you can donate here:

As a charity, we are also excited to be launching our new Fundraiser Packs. These packs have been created to help supporters feel part of the Walking 4 Hope family and to give them some resources and encouragement as they take on their challenges.

As the packs are funded by the charity, we are currently asking fundraisers to aim for a fundraising target of £50. This helps us cover the cost of producing and posting them whilst ensuring that every pound raised continues to support our charitable work.

We can also personalise them with your challenge name on and/or a positive quote of your choice.

Whether you're planning a walk, run, cycle, challenge event, or something completely unique, we would love to hear from you.

Together, we can continue creating conversations, reducing isolation, and reminding people that they are not alone.

Thank you, James. We're all behind you. 💚💛

Teachers and schools - definitely worth a look at. It's all completely free 💚💛

Are you a teacher, school leader or someone who works in a school environment?

If a child told you they were thinking of su***de or wanted to end their life, would you know what to say or how to support them?

Many teachers share that they don't feel confident in knowing how to respond when a child or young person raises concerns about su***de.

Through The Jordan Legacy's work with One Voice One Hope, the national collaborative su***de prevention movement, a special event is being held on June 9th, from 9am-6pm:

The "Youth Su***de Prevention in Schools: Building Confidence, Capability and Safe Practice" Conference.

This free online event is an opportunity for school teachers, leaders and those involved in supporting and educating young people to hear from leading experts and practitioners, and will provide clear, practical guidance to help schools:

👉 Understand what safe and appropriate practice looks like
👉 Build staff confidence in responding to students in distress
👉 Strengthen safeguarding approaches and referral pathways
👉 Learn from schools and organisations already delivering this work well

Following the event, schools will be able to access SIX WEEKS of FULLY FUNDED TRAINING and support from trusted organisations.

This event is about providing schools with:

👉 Clarity in a complex and evolving area
👉 Access to trusted expertise
👉 Practical, supported next steps
