Craven for Change FC

Craven for Change FC Craven for Change FC is a mixed group of lads of all abilities, united by football and fundraising. Hello everybody, and welcome to Craven For Change FC.

Since 2022, we’ve raised over £23k for 25 charities and clubs, proving the beautiful game can make a real difference on and off the pitch 🙌 We are a new charity football team consisting of a group of mates who have played together casually on Monday's for the past 2 years. We've decided to expand and form an 11 aside charity team to raise money for charities through playing football. The team is a

mixed bag with some players competing competitively for our local team, and others having never played 11 aside football football. On this page you will be able to see frequent updates from us regarding all things Craven For Change. Including match information, player information and most importantly, the fantastic charities we're supporting along the way!

Match Report vs Lionhearts AFC
(22.03.2026)

What a game! From the first whistle both sides came out with high tempo, plenty of chances at both ends early on in the game. Despite the fast pace and high intensity, it took a little while for the deadlock to be broken, but once it was, the goals didn’t stop coming.

C4C opened the scoring only for Lionhearts to respond almost immediately to make it 1–1. From there it turned into an end-to-end battle with both teams attackers looking sharp!
By half-time the teams levelled at 3–3.

The second half picked up right where the first left off, It wasn’t long before the score reached 5–5 in what was shaping up to be a true charity classic.
The turning point came when a well timed ball over the top, was denied by a deliberate handball. The Lionhearts defender received a 5-minute dismissal, giving C4C a crucial advantage heading into the final 15.

Credit to the Lionheart lads who showed tremendous resilience, digging deep with 10 men and making it difficult for the boys in pink. But with the final whistle approaching, the pressure was on.

Final whistle blow and it finished 6–5 to C4C! A competitive match played in great spirit, with mutual respect shown by both teams.

For this game we have chosen to help out a lovely young lady, Megan (that many of us at C4C know and went to school with) raise money towards HODU Airedale Hospital.
Megs done an amazing job so far raising money, smashing her target by a country mile! 🫶🏻
After hearing about Megs great news and her story of her experience, it felt right to join her and try raise as much money as we can.

Megs story:
Following some health issues, including hip pain in July 2024, I underwent several months of scans, tests and biopsies. The massively unexpected outcome from this was a diagnosis of Stage 4 Lymphoma at 27 years old.
The cancer was found in my hip, spine and shoulder. As a result, I continue to experience hip pain, which will make this walk a big challenge for me.
I was treated at the Haematology Oncology Unit at Airedale Hospital, where I underwent 7 rounds of chemotherapy and immunotherapy over 6 months. On some days, I spent up to 12 hours in the treatment room.
I am raising money to give something back to the unit that supported me through this very challenging time. My aim is to fund for more comfortable chairs for people receiving treatment, improving comfort and support during long and challenging days.
Thank you for helping me make a difference for others going through treatment.

If anybody would like to donate please follow link below, all donations are much appreciated. 🙏🏼

Match Report vs Hardly Athletic Charity FC (25.01.2026)

Craven made the trek across to Hunslet to face Hardly Athletic in their third fixture of the UCL campaign.

The game started brightly for Craven, playing some decent football and creating a few chances in the opening quarter of the game. The game then opened up, but Craven took the lead in the first half through a Jake Smith header. This was short lived however, as the home side responded with an equaliser, with the game level at 1–1 going into to halftime.

The second half proved challenging as the home side found their rhythm and pulled away with goals coming in quick succession. It was a tough day at the office for the away side. Overall, a good bunch of lads, plenty of lessons to take, heads up, and the main thing is that we raised some good funds for the charity ‘Hug on a Tray’.

Even though Craven fell to a heavy defeat, the home side awarded the Cotson Reddish Man of the Match
to Danny Dixon. Our on the day manager, George Blackwell, awarded the Cotson Reddish Manager’s Player of the Match to Max Foxworthy.

Our attention now turns to Sunday 1st February, where we’ll be back in action as part of the UCL campaign. Watch this space for more information …👀
