Sacele: We have just returned from the week long volunteer trip with a group of Occupational Therapists (OT) and enthusiastic volunteers to assist Pastor Otto Kis and the Hope team. Between us we:
1. Cleared equipment from the Mission House, sorted it, developed a strategy for going forward, reviewed some individual beneficiaries, assessed and provided to new referrals, rearranged parts of the warehouse, got the gantry hoists set up, created a paeds section and Heather checked endless amounts of equipment, and agreed a further satellite hub for disability equipment distribution.
2. Helped with groups associated with Hope without Limits – Zabala house church, pottery group, Gypsy youth, adults special needs group.
3. Provided two days of hands-on training for Romanian OTs with disability equipment, plus access to our Equipment Loan Store in Sacele. This will enable the Romanian OTs to request this equipment for their clients going forward.
4. Delivered a one-day conference in Brasov with key note speakers including the Executive Director of the World Federation of Occupational Therapy, which was highly encouraging to the local therapists.
5. Additionally, other members of our volunteer team were able to provide training to the staff of a state-run institution for people with disabilities. To date it has been very difficult to gain access but with successful delivery we now have the opportunity for ongoing input and skills development.
6. Identified some new space for Hope With Limits
7. Made good connections in Romania, and between ourselves
8. Went to the local church
9. Had early morning guided devotions
10. Did some sightseeing and had an adventure in the mountains of Magura (www.graft4growth.co.uk)
11. Were nourished in many different ways, body soul and spirit
12. Managed a meal out and celebrated a birthday
13. Made many new friends.
EVERYBODY contributed to make this happen and it wouldn’t be possible without our supporters, prayer partners, donors and volunteers. Thank you STAR International and The Peace & Hope Trust.
I know Otto and the Hope team (HOPE Without Limits Romania) are also thankful and appreciative. They are encouraged by people visiting to enable them to do what they are doing. We hope our teams also add fun to what can be quite a challenging call on their lives. To love and serve.
