🎂🏆 Congratulations to our Great YMCA Bake Off Winners and Runners-Up! 🏆🎂

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in this morning's Great YMCA Bake Off at BNI Premier. Not only did we enjoy some incredible bakes, but we also came together to support an important cause.

As we approach World Mental Health Day, YMCAs across the country are encouraging people to start conversations that matter. Sometimes the most important discussions begin over a cup of tea and a slice of cake.

Congratulations to our Bake Off Winner: Carl with his white chocolate torte 🥇 and our joint Runners-Up: Mia and Rachel who both made brownies 🥈!

Thank you to everyone who baked, tasted, donated and joined in. Together, we're helping to create opportunities for those small conversations that can make a big difference to someone's wellbeing.

Last winter the boiler in our youth work building stopped working. Thanks to the Pride in Place Impact Fund we were able to install a brand new heating system earlier this year. This investment enables us to keep providing services through the colder months ensuring young people aren't missing out. Sending a huge thank you to the Pride in Place Impact fund for supporting our project and young people locally.

We had a brilliant time at the 14th Annual Community Inspiration Awards 2026 on Friday! It was incredible to be in a room filled with individuals and organisational representatives all making a huge impact in their community. There were so many inspiring stories shared. In August we had a visit from the YMCA India National Council. The Project Secretary John P. Berra and Anthony and their colleague from Hagley road YMCA Saiju Varughese Joseph, came to see how we work and spent some time with our Housing & Facilities Manager Parveen over a coffee, sharing stories and experiences.

They have an incredible network of around 800 YMCAs across India. They were genuinely impressed by the work we do, particularly how much we support young people and the welcoming, friendly and loving environment we have created.

They also commented on how clean and well cared for everything is, which was lovely to hear. They left us with a gift as a gesture of appreciation and have invited us to visit India one day, which would be a wonderful opportunity.

It was a really encouraging visit and a lovely reminder that the work we do here is being noticed and appreciated beyond our own community

We’ve had another fantastic week at our summer program. We started the week with a visit from the animal man. Then we had ymca festival where we had glitter tattoos and learnt some circus skills. And to finish the week our young people enjoyed a trip go karting! ☀️😎
