A quick update regarding tomorrows food bank at Falcon Lodge Methodist Church.

It will be going ahead as normal at 2pm.

However tomorrow afternoon is set to be another scorcher with temperatures around 30 degrees 🥵. The team will be there from 1 pm setting up ready for a prompt start.

BUT Please for your own well being and safety in this heat don’t turn up early and queue ahead of our start time. We have limited shelter and facilities available to keep you cool. If you can bring your own bottled cool drink in order to keep hydrated whilst you wait your turn.

Remember the team are all volunteers who are also having to deal with the challenging heat conditions whilst moving very heavy crates of food.

Sadly we have taken the decision to not operate our Wednesday food bank at Falcon Lodge Methodist church this week 24th June.

With a red heat weather warning in place and temperatures predicted to rise considerably during Wednesday afternoon it just would not be safe for either our visitors or our volunteers.

Our other food banks at Erdington (on Tuesday morning 10 am Stockland Green) and Mere Green ( on Friday morning at 10.30 am) will run as normal. But please take care if you planning on visiting as there is limited shelter and refreshments available.

We will be back at Falcon Lodge on Wednesday 1st July.

Celebrating 5 years of Hope Food North Birmingham 🎉

Originally set up during the Covid-19 pandemic, this incredible charity has grown into a vital lifeline for the local community—supporting those facing food poverty, reducing food waste, and operating with minimal costs thanks to its dedicated team of volunteers.

Each week, their pop-up food banks support around 550 people, offering not only essential food and supplies, but also a welcoming space, friendly support, and connections to other services.

From collecting surplus food from local supermarkets to delivering nearly 5,000 emergency parcels over the past five years, their impact is truly inspiring. It was a privilege for our school to attend their anniversary event and celebrate the passion and teamwork behind everything they do.

We are proud to support Hope Food and look forward to continuing our partnership in the next academic year 💚

Hope Food celebrated its 5th anniversary this week at our base at Streetly Methodist Church on Thornhill Road.

Over the past five years Hope Food has made a huge difference to the lives of local residents most in need in our community by helping them with food donations, including holding weekly foodbanks and delivering food to hostels and to other local charities and groups supporting many other families and individuals experiencing hardship.

Along the way Hope Food continues to be supported by hundreds of volunteers, none of whom take a salary but give up their own free time to help out. As Hope Food has grown so much over 75 volunteers each week volunteer to help support 550 adults and children that benefit from our 3 food banks & emergency home deliveries.

Hope Food also works with local businesses, schools, churches and many more organisations who donate food and other supplies for disadvantaged residents who live in our area.

Thank you to all the volunteers who help out. Without you Hope Food wouldn’t exist. You are the lifeblood of this wonderful group and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts ♥️

🐣 A big Hope Food thank you to Leanne, Ellie and the rest of the team at council contractors Equans for their fantastic donations.

Equans donated £300, which was used to buy fresh milk for families in need in the Falcon Lodge area, and also kindly donated Easter eggs for Hope Food to distribute to Falcon Lodge families over the next few days.
