Hope Food North Birmingham

Hope Food North Birmingham Feeding and caring for the local community. And so Hope Food was born to provide a food bank service with a difference.
(1)

Hope Food North Birmingham is a newly formed ((May 2021) charity based in Mere Green but serving the community of North Birmingham and Sutton Coldfield. As we start to come out of the national lockdowns of 2020/2021 and return to a “normal” way of life, for many the impact of the last year is still very much a day to day reality and there are still many in our community who are suffering financial

hardship. Using surplus food collected from supermarkets and the generous donations made by the public we will run Hope Food Days. Hope Food Days will operate out of local community centres and anyone in need can come along and collect a free bag of essential food. And there may be additional items such as fresh fruit, vegetables, bread and toiletries available on the day. There will also be an opportunity to stay a while and enjoy a hot drink and cake. Current pop up food bank events take place

Erdington in partnership with Stockland Green Methodist Church we will be offering fresh fruit, vegetables and bread between 10.00 - 10.30 am on Tuesdays. Wednesday in the hall at the back of Falcon Lodge Methodist Church between 2-3 pm

Friday at Ark Community Church between 10.30-11.15am

We also partner with other local organisations and hostels distributing surplus food each day direct to them to help with the people they support. Charity Registration No. 1195019

🐣 A big Hope Food thank you to Leanne, Ellie and the rest of the team at council contractors Equans for their fantastic donations.

Equans donated £300, which was used to buy fresh milk for families in need in the Falcon Lodge area, and also kindly donated Easter eggs for Hope Food to distribute to Falcon Lodge families over the next few days.

Reddicap Cllr Richard Parkin is pictured with volunteer Mary after dropping off the eggs at Hope Food HQ this morning.

A big thank you to Four Oaks Primary School for thinking of us last week. After their recent building works they had some food catering items they needed to clear out so rather than throw it away they reached out to us and of course we said yes please. Some of this has already been distributed to our foodbank visitors, some items we have split into smaller portions to pop into the 300 weekly bags we hand out and some we have passed onto to partner groups we work with. These groups will be able to use things like the large bag of cookie mix and cans of tomato paste in the meals they cook and distribute to the homeless community.

Nothing goes to waste with Hope Food we always find a home for anything donated to us. We work with many other vital organisations supporting vulnerable individuals and families across Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham.

So thank you 🙏.

Another lovely delivery of rice and pasta this time courtesy of Asda Queslett. Many thanks to Michaela the Community Campio at the store for popping by and dropping it off for us. As we’re making nearly 300 bags of longlife food each week we do get through a lot of rice and pasta each week. So thank you Asda for your continued support.

Just picked up a trolley load of rice & pasta donated by Asda. These will go straight into our staple bags containing long life food that every visitor to our 3 weekly food banks receives each week.

We are now making up around 290 staple bags each week & each one contains 2 items to make a meal - so either pasta & pasta sauce or rice & a sauce/stir fry packet.

It’s no wonder our stocks were running low. So if your out & about this week please do consider popping some rice or pasta into one of our donation bins. We really could do with topping up shelves ☺️.

Thank you Asda for your continued support.

*** WE NEED YOUR HELP ***

Let's face it, times are difficult right now even more so for struggling individuals and families.
January can be especially challenging, as the winter months bring added difficulties.

Food banks become a vital lifeline, and are depended on more than ever and whilst we focus on helping people, we must also remember their beloved pets. These furry companions bring comfort and joy, especially during tough times.❤️
We’re reaching out to our wonderful community for any donations of pet food and treats! Any tins, dried biscuits or those treats sat at the back of your cupboard that probably won't get used.

Every contribution helps ensure that pets in need are also cared for and loved. 💖

We'd love it if you'd be able to help us this January and donate if you can.
If you’d like to help, please drop off any donations at the salon.

If you have any questions please contact us on 07749 121180

Please, lets support our local community and their beloved pets ❤️

Thank you for your generosity! 🌟🐶🐱

A big thank you to Alison Matthews , staff and customers of the Walsall Road branch of Boots UK who have been donating and collecting lots of lovely toiletries for us. We had a bumper donation before Christmas and now we have had another couple of very full bags from them.

Whilst we focus on provided food either from surplus vegetables and fruit or long life food we do also try and have at each of our food banks some of the other essentials families need. But this in only possible if we receive donations like this. So thank you everyone at Boots for continuing to support us.

If you have any unwanted Christmas gifts that just don’t hit the mark, or have a pack of nappies in an unwanted size. Maybe your hubby has decided to grow a beard and no longer needs the shower gel you got on a 3 for 2 offer. Then please consider dropping it in one of our donation points.

*Un opened and not part used items only please.*
*Long life food donations should be in date*

Now that the snow has almost disappeared lots of lovely people are popping a donations of unwanted Christmas chocolates and treats. Pictured is Jo from Sutton Coldfield Slimming World with Jo who has encouraged her ladies to donate to Hope Food and she brought in a £30 donation as well.

Thank you Jo and the Slimming World ladies.

So if you have a jar of cranberry sauce or packet of stuffing with a short best before date. Or maybe you’ve started the year with good intentions to steer clear of chocolate and biscuits then please do pop along and place them into one of our donation points. We’ll make sure they go to someone who is struggling right now to use right now.

Thank you ☺️
