ROCKET NEEDS A HOME
🐾 Malinois
🐾 1yr Old
🐾 Male
With continued guidance off Lauren & behaviourist advice from Ant Campbell-Innes Canines, Dog Behaviourist & Trainer Rocket’s fantastic Foster Mum Sue has really been achieving some wonderful results with Rocket whilst also assessing what he is like in a home environment.
Sue reports:
🐾Rocket can still be a little mouthy in excitement as he is still a young boy.
🐾During down time he loves nothing more than to lie across your lap for cuddles. He’s VERY affectionate.
🐾Rocket’s prey drive kicks in when cars speed past, or when he sees cats, ducks etc. We control this with patience & positive reinforcement training as instructed by Ant… we are seeing IMPROVEMENT!
🐾Rocket does NOT like other dogs
🐾Rocket is halti trained
🐾Rocket is crate trained
🐾Rocket is house trained
🐾He is a very alert & active young man who is probably the smartest dog I have ever known, he picks things up so quickly in the house.
🐾Rocket is very friendly & loves everyone. However, because he is an exuberant & powerful puppy, he would be best matched to an adult only home.
🐾He knows verbal & hand commands for: toilet, sit, wait, lie down, stand, leave, find, bed, in & out.
🐾During the night in his foster home he is confined to the lounge, where he sleeps on the sofa.
🐾He sleeps through the night.
🐾He likes to play with a hard ball toy & has nifty footwork. Current fave toy is an earless bunny & a hard rope ball.
🐾He travels well in a car clipped in, but can become anxious when you are getting out of the car. That being the case, he now travels in a crate instead.

DESENSITISING
Rockets Mum has been desensitising Rocket to other dogs. Following Ant’s advice, Sue has used a combination of desensitization & counter-conditioning, which involves gradually exposing Rocket to triggers at a low intensity while pairing the trigger with something positive, like high-value treats. This has been in the form of long distance interactions on walks, working on decreasing the distance between the dogs & meeting in the home too (as you can see in the vid in the comments section). Sue has been achieving positive results in a relatively short time. 🙌🏻
A new owner would need to support Rockets progress with continued & COMMITTED training in this area.
"Overall, once Rocket has built a bond, he enjoys being by your side and involved with your daytime routines. He’s extremely affectionate and thrives on human company, so wouldn’t do well being left alone for long periods of time. With continued positive training he will become an excellent companion."
