💉 The NHS is getting ready to offer more booster vaccines.

This week the JCVI advised on an expansion to the Covid-19 vaccination programme which means that

• The booster programme will be extended to all 18-39 year olds
• The gap between the second dose and booster will be reduced to three months
• All those aged 12 to 15 years have now been advised to receive a second dose of the vaccine no sooner than 12 weeks after the first dose
• Severely immunosuppressed individuals who have received three primary doses should now also be offered a booster dose

If you’ve got a friend or family member who had their last Covid vaccine more than 6 months ago, and they haven’t got an appointment for their booster jab ask them to get in touch with their GP.

Vaccines are our best defence against Covid and it’s time for some to top up their immunity.

🌳We’re not out the woods yet ‼

As we all enjoy more freedoms as a result of -19 restrictions easing, we need to remember that the virus is still with us.

While embracing loved ones for the first time in over a year, or enjoying a meal indoors at our favourite restaurant and celebrating the progress of the vaccination programme, it is understandable that we could feel like the pandemic is over.

🚨 But the reality is that we’re not out of the woods yet 🚨

The vaccine 💉 remains one of the best ways of protecting ourselves and others so our message today is to ask everyone to take up both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine when it is offered.

Early data indicates the vaccine protects against the variants of concern we are seeing. So even if you missed out on taking this up when it was first offered it’s not too late to have the vaccine, you just need to visit http://orlo.uk/sD9q5

It’s been a hard year on everyone, including our children, but providing them with alcohol won’t help.

Drinking increases children’s risk of situations they can’t handle, accidents, smoking and drug taking. It can damage developing brains, liver, bones and hormones, can affect mood and mental health, and performance at school.

1️⃣ in 3️⃣ people with coronavirus DO NOT have symptoms but can still infect others.

⚡️Regular rapid testing helps quickly identify people who have covid-19….and slow the spread - helping to save lives and keep our community safe.

If you haven’t done a home test before, we’ve got assisted test sites across the city where trained staff are on hand to show you how to do the test and report the result. You can book an assisted test and find out more about regular rapid testing at ➡️ http://orlo.uk/98tuE

But don’t forget - it’s only for people who DON’T have symptoms. If you think you might have , self-isolate immediately and book a test.
