Radio Sunderland for Hospitals Radio Sunderland for Hospitals (Charity No.1073012)
provides a free radio service to patients No experience is required as full training is given

Established in 1953, Radio Sunderland for Hospitals is a self-supporting organisation staffed entirely by unpaid volunteers. It is through the generous support of local associations, companies and individuals that we have been able to operate for so long. Our aim is to make life a little more bearable and provide some relief to a patient’s often-stressful stay in hospital with our broadcasting and

ward visiting service. We provide a wide variety of programmes including music, feature programmes, news, information and sport - 24 hours a day! Anyone can be a volunteer as long as they are at least 16 (no upper age limit).

Patient Shaun at the Royal Hospital, who at the time was being visited by his daughter, was delighted to receive the very first of our brand new specially designed bookmarks!
These bookmarks are more than just page markers!
They're packed with useful information, including a reminder on how to listen to our much-loved record request programme and a direct link to our website.
They are available from our volunteer ward visitors.
We hope they bring a little extra joy to everyone's reading.

We would like to give our thanks the Barbour Foundation for kindly funding the cost of these.
