This week is Baby Loss Awareness Week, one that holds real significance for the Love, Amelia team.

It's a time to remember all the babies and children who are gone too soon and to support families who have lost their little ones.

People will be struggling this week, and every other week. Please take a moment to think about them and if you know someone who has suffered loss, check in on them - it could make all the difference ๐Ÿ’œ

We need your help.

Weโ€™re still struggling to fulfil the newborn referrals coming in due to a shortage of the essential items and equipment that make up these bundles. We urgently need your help to keep these referrals moving and ensure families have the essentials they need before their little one arrives.

๐ˆ๐ญ๐ž๐ฆ๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ž ๐š๐ซ๐ž ๐ข๐ง ๐ง๐ž๐ž๐ ๐จ๐Ÿ:

~ Newborn & First Size clothing โ€“ vests, babygrows and outfits
~ Moses baskets in excellent condition
~ Baby baths
~ Baby bouncers
~ Changing mats
~ Sterilisers

If your little one has recently outgrown any of the items above, please consider donating them to Love, Amelia. Your pre-loved items could become part of the next newborn referral heading out of our doors. ๐Ÿ

Donations can be dropped off at our unit at 2 Glaholm Road, Sunderland, SR1 2NX Monday-Friday between 9am - 4pm. Please note, we are closed for an event on Wednesday 14 October).

We've had some amazing volunteers through the doors in the last week. A huge thank you to Wear Recovery and Re-Gen!

The team from Wear Recovery got through an amazing volume of clothes, checking and sorting into batches, ready for distribution.

The Re-Gen team were busy checking and cleaning toys and helping to prepare boxes of essentials for newborns as well as donating toiletries and newborn items themselves.

Weโ€™re back again with our annual competition, giving children across the North East the chance to get creative and design Love, Ameliaโ€™s 2026 Christmas Card as part of Ameliaโ€™s Big Toy Appeal! ๐ŸŽ…

The winning design will be professionally produced and included in all of our Christmas Eve Bags, spreading some extra festive cheer to our supported children and families across the region this Christmas.

To enter, simply create your Christmas design on paper and in colour, then take a clear photo of your artwork and email it to ๐œ๐š๐ฆ๐ฉ๐š๐ข๐ ๐ง๐ฌ@๐ฅ๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐š๐ฆ๐ž๐ฅ๐ข๐š.๐จ๐ซ๐ .๐ฎ๐ค

For families facing financial hardship, when household bills and putting food on the table have to come first, everyday toiletries can quickly become an unaffordable extra. Yet these items are essentials that no family should have to go without.

Toiletries are some of the items we consistently struggle to keep in stock. With demand so high, we often have to purchase large quantities ourselves to make sure we can continue supporting families. Thatโ€™s why these new donation stations will make such a difference. ๐Ÿ’œ

Weโ€™ll have a permanent station in the lobby at our unit, while the rest will soon be heading out into the community. Keep an eye on our socials to find out where youโ€™ll be able to spot one!
