NERAF NERAF is a Sunderland based Lived Experience Charity that provides compassionate support to individuals and families impacted by substance and alcohol use.

NERAF provide one to one peer mentoring and recovery coaching to people and families that are affected by drug or alcohol misuse. We provide a tailored approach recognising them all as unique individuals therefore our service is designed to meet their needs.

Your experience could help improve future support services.

🔍 About the study
This MSc Health Psychology research is exploring young people’s experiences of accessing drug and alcohol treatment services — including what helped, what made it harder, and what could be improved.

✅ Who can take part?
Aged 18–25
Live in the North‑East of England
Previously used non‑opiate substances
Have completed structured treatment
Comfortable speaking English

🗣 What’s involved?
A 1‑to‑1 virtual interview (45–60 minutes)
Confidential, voluntary, and audio‑recorded
Your contribution will help enhance knowledge and future support
