Between now and St Georges Day we will be sharing with you what this year’s Kings Scout Award Recipients have been doing to complete their awards.

Today we say Congratulations to Ethan Cowey of Houghton le Spring District.

Whilst completing his Award Ethan completed his Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

Whilst completing his award Ethan

1. Attended the World Scout Moot in Lisburn in 2025 as part of the UK Contingent.
2. Organised various international Evenings at 1st Fatfield Scout Group to celebrate such things as Burns Night and Lunar New Year.
3. Worked as part of the Service Team at Moorhouse.
4. Helped organise and run The Big Help Out Day in 2023 as part of the Coronation.
5. Ethan started and still works as part of the District Recruiting Team with Houghton le Spring District.

Ethan is attending the Windsor Parade later this month.

Between now and St Georges Day we will be sharing with you what this year’s Kings Scout Award Recipients have been doing to complete their awards.

Today we say Congratulations to Jenny Thompson of Darlington and Sunderland Districts.

Whilst completing her award Jenny completed her Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
It is also worth high lighting that Jenny has also gained her Scouts of the World Award whilst completing her Kings Scout Award. She is one of only 2 people within the County that have done this award. Jenny has also gained her Explorer Belt So, Jenny has achieved all 4 Top Awards available to the Young People within Scouting. Quite some achievement before her 25th Birthday.

Whilst completing the Award Jenny
1. Has taken part in International Camps and Expeditions in Germany.
2. She was part of the HQ Team to look at updating the Explorer Scout Programme.
3. Has also held a role within the selection team at National HQ for national role recruitment.
4. She has also divided her time between Sunderland Scout Network and being a Beaver Leader in Darlington.
5. Jenny is now the County Youth Team Lead for Co Durham.

Today we say Congratulations to Bethany Frazer of Blaydon District.
Whilst completing her award Bethany completed her Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
Whilst completing the Award Bethany also
1. Attended the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea as an Assistant Unit Leader for the Co Durham Contingent.
2. Worked with the Charity Living Woods getting the Scout Group involved.
3. Worked with the Beavers alongside Friends of Winlaton to plant flowers and make displays around the Winlaton area.
4. Led the Beaver colony in international events including the JOTI which they also took part in.
5. In fact, throughout her Kings Scout Award journey Bethany has devoted all of her time to giving back to Scouting and working with younger sections helping them achieve as much as possible.

Bethany is attending the Windsor Parade later this month.
