St Michael's Community Garden! 🌿
Our second community garden session was another fantastic step forward! πŸ’š
With the help of our wonderful volunteers from ICOS Women's Group, we created our first raised beds and planted a selection of herbs and vegetables, including 🌿 lavender, rosemary, parsley, basil, beetroot and chicory.
These raised beds are the beginning of our growing area and will allow us to gradually expand the garden, creating even more opportunities for planting, learning and growing together throughout the seasons. 🌻πŸ₯•πŸ₯¬
We’ve also been busy preparing for the future by sowing organic seeds, including cabbage, lettuce, cress, rocket and radish, alongside other seasonal varieties. 🌱 The seedlings will be carefully looked after by our volunteers before being planted into additional raised beds as the garden develops.
A big thank you to everyone who came along, got their hands dirty and helped make the garden come to life! πŸ’š
We’re excited to see how our community garden continues to grow – not just with plants, but with friendships, skills and a stronger community too. 🌿🌱🀝

🌱 Haven't filled in our community garden survey yet? 🌱

Lots of people have already taken part in our survey about the new community garden at St Michael's Community Centre - thank you!

πŸ’š But we want to hear from as many people in our community as possible, so we're reaching out one more time to ask for just 1-2 minutes of your time.

⏰ The survey closes on 10 August, so don't miss your chance!
Your ideas will directly shape what we plant and plan 🌻πŸ₯•

🌳🍐 Our Community Garden is Growing! 🌿🍎
Our ICOS Women's Group, led by the wonderful artist Sabina Sallis, took the first exciting steps in creating our new community garden at St Michael's Community Centre.
Together, we planted a beautiful selection of fruit trees and bushes, including pear, apple and plum trees, along with currant bushes that will provide fresh fruit for years to come. πŸŒ±πŸπŸŽπŸ‘
This garden is about so much more than planting trees. It's about bringing women together, connecting them to creativity, learning new skills, caring for nature, and creating a welcoming space that our whole community can enjoy and be proud of.
We are incredibly proud of everyone who took part in the session. Your enthusiasm, teamwork and hard work have transformed an empty space into the beginning of something truly special. πŸ’š
A huge thank you to Sabina Sallis for leading such an inspiring session and to all the amazing women who rolled up their sleeves and made it happen. We can't wait to watch our garden grow over the coming months! 🌼🌿
