Around 2,000 deferred Armed Forces pensions go unclaimed each year, with potentially significant sums involved. The pension is payable from age 60, 65, or State Pension Age depending on scheme and circumstances.

FPS 75. Preserved benefits earned up to and including 5 April 2006 service will be paid at age 60. Benefits for service after this date will be paid at 65. You can elect to take all your preserved benefits at age 60, but the benefits which would ordinarily have been due at age 65 will be actuarily reduced to reflect the early payment.
AFPS 05. Preserved benefits will be paid at age 65.
AFPS 15. Deferred pensions will be paid at your State Pension Age.

The pension must be claimed and the MOD does not contact those who may be entitled to one.
You can apply for your preserved pension 6 months before it's due date

Armed Forces Day celebrations wouldn't be complete without an aerial display, so we're thrilled to confirm that we'll have a helicopter flypast at lunchtime 🚁🥳

If you're coming to our event in Stowmarket, be sure to keep your eyes to the sky so you don't miss it.

Here's the event schedule in full, with approximate timings:

• 11am - Opening from the Mayor of Stowmarket and a live performance from The Vibettes

• 12pm - Honington Band live performance

• 12.35pm - Cadet march and salutes

• 12.50pm - Speeches

• 1.05pm - Helicopter flypast

• 1.15pm - The Vibettes live performance

• 2.10pm - Military Choir live performance

• 2.55pm - Closing speech from our Armed Forces Champion
