Exciting new for SPS! We are thrilled to announce the appointment of our new President, Lois Hunt. Lois has been a valued Trustee since 2016, and in her new role, Lois will be continuing her support. Lois shares our passion for Suffolk’s incredible historic buildings and unspoilt landscapes, and our conviction that the traditional building trades and crafts upon which the care of our historic built environment depends must survive and thrive. All the more reason why we are championing our grants for practitioners in heritage crafts.

Is anyone else as hooked on the TV series of Rivals as we are at SPS? Rutshire has a number of similarities with Suffolk - beautiful countryside, charming towns, dogs everywhere. Dame Jilly knew a thing or two about country life, and indeed life in general. And as our dear followers will know, at SPS we're a sucker for a black lab... Happy Friday everyone! 🙂😎🐶

A little light reading in the SPS office today - it’s amazing what you find when riffling through cupboards on the hunt for something else… Clearly Mr Jay was rather annoyed about things back in 1972.

At SPS, we're prepping for our Annual General Meeting on Friday - an important occasion for us to review the past twelve months, and look to the year ahead. As an independent charity supported by members - all of whom are invited to attend - we take our role seriously in delivering our charitable purposes - and our AGM is a great opportunity for us to share our achievements and ambitions. And of course, if the weather's nice, a glass of wine afterwards in the garden of doesn't do any harm either.

It's Lavenham Hidden Gardens on Sunday 7th June, between 10.30 and 4.30, so the gardeners of Lavenham are furiously mowing, dead-heading and watering to ensure that all is looking lovely for weekend visitors. 26 gardens are opening this year, and all proceeds go to charity - a perfect day out. Here you can see a little corner of the garden at the Guildhall, rabbits for display purposes only... Happy Friday everyone!
