Stroud Table Tennis Club has made a major investment of over £7,000 in brand-new, top-quality tables and nets.

The new equipment, marked DONIC, replaces older models and has been warmly welcomed by players.

The upgrade will enable the club to host local annual league tournaments as well as national events, further enhancing Stroud’s reputation as a thriving centre for table tennis.

The Saturday morning all-age sessions at Stratford Park are seeing record attendances, with 18 tables in action. Players have already noticed the difference, with one commenting: “The tables are fast and have great bounce — noticeably better than the old ones.”

Several of the older tables have found new homes at satellite clubs recently established at Minchinhampton Community Hub and Painswick Rugby Club, while others are being used at Nailsworth Primary School, where the league has launched a new after-school club attended by around 20 children.

CHARITY QUIZ NIGHT
Here is the link for the charity quiz night https://forms.office.com/r/NrywCmwPhm
It is to be held at the Farmers Club in Gloucester on Saturday 11th October 2025. This year the quiz is in aid of Leukaemia UK - it is going to be the same format as last year - bring your own food and a raffle prize - there will be fun and laughter and dodgy singing. Please share this with as many people as possible. If you are able to get a team, please allocate a captain to fill your form in. I think we are going to be limited to around 16 teams so book early to avoid disappointment.

Longevity should be the middle name of extraordinary table tennis player and administrator John Bunn, who recently stood down as chairman of the Stroud Table Tennis League after 50 incredible years at the helm.

There were two other trophies awarded on the night but unfortunately the recipient was not able to receive them in person. But Benji Day-Lewis was awarded the "Don Sweeney Shield" for having the best league record of the season, Benji had an unbeaten 100% record. He also collected the "Michael Holbrow Shield" which is awarded to the junior player with the best league record having only played in the Stroud League.
