As the nights draw in, I've finally finished this meal of a book. 📖 🍂

Lifehouse by Adam Greenfield may have a rather lacklustre cover, but the knowledge and sustenance inside are vital for the times of the long emergency. It doesn't flinch from the severity of the situation, and it also offers tangible models for mutual care for when the state fails us.

We're lucky to have some bright minds right here in our local area working on exactly this. Keep your eyes peeled for opportunities to get involved, and let's get resilient together. 🌱

🌍💚 Global Awareness Day / One Love Multicultural Celebration 💚🌍

What a brilliant Saturday! We were really pleased to join this wonderful day of music, food, creativity, campaigning and community — bringing together so many local groups and people who care about building a fairer, more peaceful and sustainable world.

At the Parents For Future – Stroud stall, we got hands-on with a very sweet bit of climate science! 🍬🌎

Our volunteers helped visitors make CO₂ and CH₄ molecules out of Jelly Tots — a fun way to explore the greenhouse gases that are driving climate change, and to get conversations going about where they come from and why they matter.

It was lovely to meet so many curious families, share ideas and connect climate action with the many other struggles and movements represented at the event — from peace and internationalism to community solidarity, justice and the right to protest.

Huge thanks to everyone who organised the day, all the brilliant local groups who took part, and everyone who stopped by our stall. ❤️

Climate action is community action — and community is stronger when we come together. 🌱✊

A day of protest, community and hope 🌿🪧

The Saturday before last, families from across our local community gathered at RAF Fairford to say clearly:

Stop bombing Iran.
Burnham, don’t support illegal wars.
Shut down US bases.

The airfield was lined with banners and placards, as people came together to oppose war and ask what these military bases mean for the communities and landscapes around them.

And alongside the protest were the things we want our children to grow up with instead: creativity, connection and community. 💚

For us at Parents for Future Stroud, bringing children into spaces like this matters. We want them to know that they have a voice, that peaceful protest is part of democracy, and that communities can come together to imagine something different.

A world where land is returned to communities and nature.
Where resources go towards caring for people and planet rather than war.
Where our children inherit a culture of peace, solidarity and hope. 🌍✌️

Thank you to everyone who came, created, marched, made placards and stood together.

Another world is possible — and our children are watching us build it.

🌿✨ **The perfect family holiday might be right on our doorstep…** ✨🌿

We’ve just been to **Green Gathering Festival** and it got us thinking about what a brilliant family holiday can look like when we step away from the usual busy, consumer-heavy way of doing things.

🏕️ **Local. Off-grid. Family-friendly. And wonderfully bonkers.**

A few days of solar-heated showers, cooking over fires, **delicious low-impact veggie food**, practical workshops and learning about off-grid living, sustainability, climate justice and activism — all mixed up with a *lot* of good old-fashioned fun!

🐝 Pollenator parades celebrating the bees
🧦 Sock wrestling
🎪 Music, dancing and dressing up
🔥 Fireside adventures
🌱 Hands-on workshops
🤹 And all manner of wonderfully eccentric festival fun!

**Raising climate-conscious children isn't just about telling them about climate change. It’s about helping them experience a different way of living.** 🌍💚

Showing children that caring for the planet can be joyful. That we can make, grow, share, learn and have fun without endless consumption. That community matters. And that climate action can be creative, empowering and full of hope.

And it’s important for us grown-ups too. When we’re juggling work, childcare, school, meals, laundry and a million other plates, **we need to fill our own cups too.** ❤️

A few days of muddy children, campfires, laughter, silliness and learning alongside people who care can be a wonderful reminder that sustainability isn't about being perfect. It’s about **joy, connection, community — and discovering that we can make changes together.**

For children, it’s an adventure.
For parents, it’s a breath of fresh air.
And for all of us, it’s a glimpse of the future we might want to create. 🌱

🥵🌍 As another spell of exceptionally high summer temperatures grips the UK, we're reminded that the climate crisis isn't a distant threat—it's here, now.

Record-breaking heat is becoming the new normal. The science is clear: **we cannot keep expanding fossil fuel production while expecting a safe future for our children.**

This weekend, families from across Stroud gathered in the town centre to send a clear message to our incoming Prime Minister, Andy Burnham:

**🛑 Stop all new oil and gas.**

We were proud to stand alongside an inspiring intergenerational community of campaigners from Greenpeace, Just Stop Oil, Extinction Rebellion, the Green Party and others. Parents, grandparents, children and friends came together because we all share one simple belief: **our children deserve a liveable future.**

Approving new oil and gas projects will only deepen the climate crisis. Instead, we need bold investment in clean, renewable energy, climate-resilient homes, resilient local food systems, biodiversity restoration, and communities that are equipped to adapt to the impacts of climate change that are already unavoidable.

To and : please show real climate leadership by stopping all new oil and gas and investing in a fair, resilient, low-carbon future that protects today's children and generations to come.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, held a banner, wore a slogan, brought their children, or stopped to chat. Every conversation matters. Every voice counts.

💚 There is no Planet B, and there is no time to waste.

💧Dirty Business: The Truth About Our Water💧

Have you seen the TV series Dirty Business? It exposes the shocking reality behind the UK water companies scandal — how big corporations extract profits while polluting our rivers and seas.

For years, water companies have paid huge dividends while sewage spills into the waterways that should belong to all of us. The result? Dying ecosystems, contaminated beaches, and communities left wondering if it’s safe to swim.

As parents, this hits especially hard. Many of us grew up splashing in rivers, paddling in the sea, and spending carefree summer days in nature. Yet today many of us hesitate before letting our children do the same — worried about sewage, pollution, and the health risks in the water.

I feel deeply sad that I don’t feel able to let my son experience the simple joy of splashing in rivers or playing in the sea on a hot day without fear of sewage contamination. Clean water should be our children’s birthright — and the birthright of all the wildlife that depends on these ecosystems.

Our rivers and seas must not be sacrificed for corporate profit.

🌿 Join us in standing up for clean water and rights for the River Frome.
