The adults at Paradise House have recently created and installed an Easter egg in St. Mary's Church, Painswick. This was created as part of the annual Painswick Easter Egg trail, a fundraising event for the local playgroup. This is their 35th year and as such the chosen theme was Coral.

The adults researched coral reefs and the myriad of lives that depend on its fragile ecosystem. Using a variety of skills from weaving, embossing, paint and stitch, they explored alternate ways of interpreting materials culminating in a beautiful creation much admired by the local community and organisers of the event.

Big thanks to the adults and staff at Paradise who helped bring this project to its wonderfully colourful conclusion, you should be proud!

Recently, three members of staff attended Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP), Psychotherapy and Parenting Level One Training.

Gareth (Headteacher of William Morris School), Rachel (Head of Admissions, Transition and Family Support) and Madina (Deputy Head of Clinical and Therapy) were trained by Vivien Norris (Practitioner, Consultant and Trainer in DDP) in developing their knowledge around developmental trauma, attachment theory and child development and how these are integrated to produce a therapeutic approach used for relationship development and trauma resolution.

This training will be used to assist staff in understanding and effectively supporting children and their families.

✨️Social Work Week 2026✨️

Emma Milner (Executive Team Manager and Registered Social Worker) has successfully completed her Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE).

This achievement marks an important step in her career and reflects the Trust's continued commitment to developing high-quality social work practice across its school and services.

The ASYE is a nationally recognised programme that supports newly qualified social workers during their first year in employment. It is designed to strengthen professional confidence, develop knowledge and skills and support practitioners to apply learning effectively in their day-to-day work, particularly within children and families services.

For Emma, the year has combined structured learning, regular feedback and reflective practice alongside her leadership responsibilities within Novalis Trust. Her progress through the programme was supported by Kate Barnett (Professional Development Consultant).

Emma said, "It's helped me to reflect more deeply on my practice, build confidence in my decision-making and stay focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for the children and families we support. I've really appreciated the encouragement and support from colleagues throughout the year".

Congratulations Emma for all your hard work and we can't wait to see you flourish in your career as a Social Worker.

✨️Social Work Week 2026 ✨️

Jo Heath (Head of Training) is one of our second year Social Work Apprentice Students. Jo presented on the international panel for World Social Work Day at

The panel brought together lecturers and students from the University of Gloucestershire, UK and Jamia Milia Islamia University in New Delhi, India to share experiences, reflect on social work education and practice and learn from each other. It encouraged dialogue across countries and generations, focusing on understanding differences, recognising shared challenges and what these mean for social work education and practice.

Thank you Jo for your contribution and representing the work we do across Novalis Trust.

Two of the adults from Paradise House have recently joined the HOPE Agency course at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College (SGS). The HOPE Agency support people with learning difficulties, teaching them employability skills to find and maintain long-term employment. The adults are really enjoying their time on the course developing their skills. They also recently attended a Job Fair in Cheltenham talking to different employers about future job opportunities. Thank you to the HOPE Agency at for all their work with the adults so far and the brilliant effort and enthusiasm from the adults themselves!
