Looking forward to seeing you at the September Repair & Eco cafe this Sunday, 27 September, 11am to 2pm at the Trinity Rooms Community Hub

We will have repair stations including electrical and mechanical, textiles and clothing, jewellery repair, tool sharpening, as well as a pop-up workshop from Emergence Restock

Repair Cafés are free meeting places and they’re all about repairing things (together). In the place where a Repair Café is located, you’ll find tools and materials to help you make any repairs you need. You’ll also find expert volunteers, with repair skills in all kinds of fields.

This Sunday, 27 September, is World Rivers Day and you’re invited to join Kate Dineen to celebrate at the River Frome. All are welcome to join, meeting at Capel’s Mill at 10.30am, for a community ceremony offering gratitude to water and rivers. Bring a flower, a drop of water, a drum, a river story or a poem, and a snack to share. Afterwards there will be a chance to find out more about river guardianship. Lovely workshop coming up over at Emergence Restock next week.

Thanks Lynne for sharing this on LinkedIn. This is exactly the kind of conversation we were having yesterday at Emergence Commons as part of Sustainable Fashion Week, alongside Just Sust Festival.

Emergence is becoming a real hub for these conversations around fashion, design, sustainability and what we can actually do differently, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what Lynne brings into the space next week.

Design Serving Life feels like much more than a talk, so I’d definitely call it a workshop. It’s about getting into the questions, challenging some of our assumptions and thinking about how we make better decisions through design.

Looking forward to carrying the conversation on next Tuesday at Emergence Commons. 💜

🌿 HOME & COMMUNITY COMPOSTING 🪴

🌱Find out how to turn green waste into plant food at home or as a community scheme at our Home & Community Composting talk on Monday 2nd November 7pm at the Arkell Centre. It's free, no need to book, just turn up!

🪏Community Composting is a great way to create a virtuous cycle, turning unwanted garden greens from the local community into a peat free compost that is returned back to the community. It saves the cost and environmental impact of having to take trips to the tip and the garden centre and keeps all the benefits local.

👩‍🌾Have you ever wondered whether we could set up a community composting scheme for Nailsworth? Or do you need some tips on home composting? Come along to hear from local experts and practitioners about what’s involved.

Still time to join us for the third annual Festival of Commoning taking place across Stroud on Friday the 2nd and Saturday 3rd October 2026. Including two great events taking place at our Trinity Rooms Community Hub on Saturday!

2:30pm-6pm we have a Cooking for Community Workshop taking place in our Kitchen. This will then be followed by a pay-what-can Community Dinner from 6pm-10pm, where all are welcome to come enjoy a fabulous feast to mark the end of this year’s festival.
