I hope that everyone is enjoying their summer so far. I’m writing about the Kingswood Salver competition- each year we enter this competition as a club, against other clubs in the south west. We have to enter a set of 5 images, from 5 different photographers, to make up a panel. You may remember that 3 times over the last few years we have done really well, coming second place- wouldn’t it be great to make it to first place this time!
Now- what we need is a strong theme. It needs to be something we can work on as a group of interested photographers- it doesn’t really work to just ask people to submit images on a chosen theme as they wouldn’t be cohesive. last year we did the minimalist instruments, and the year before we went to Rockaway Park. Because it was as structured approach to the style of images with the instrument shoot that we were looking for, it made selecting a matching panel so much easier. It would be great to do that again.
So, for now, this is where I’m asking for your help- to pick a theme or idea that would be accessible to many members of the club. If we can do that, then I will work on the logistics of making it happen- maybe there is an image that you’ve seen in a club competition that we could plan a panel around- that’s what we did last time!
