It was a great day at the Strathpeffer Highland Gathering today, the weather stayed dry for the entire day and very little in the way wind, plenty wind coming from the Strathpeffer and District Pipeband though, well played guys.

We were very busy throughout the whole event and almost ran out of parking.

Thanks first of all to our marshals, judges, timekeepers, officials and other helpers who we could not do without you are all legends 🙏

Thanks to the competitors who came from far and wide to compete for the prize money, hope you enjoyed competing as much as the crowd enjoyed watching.

And of course thanks to the great crowd who came today to watch and to cheer on all the activities we had on display for you today, I spoke to people from all over the 🌎 some first time attendees others who come every year and make it part of their holiday trip.

It was great to see the battle in the form of a Tug O war between the Clan Mackenzie Society of Scotland & the UK and the Clan Munro. The latter were the victors this time but the Mackenzie's want a rematch at the next Clan Gathering...

2025 NORTHERN JUNIOR HILL RUNNING LEAGUE

In parallel to the main Scottish Athletics Junior Hill Running League, the new Northern League has been introduced to support younger hill runners in particular, who may not find it easy or practical to travel to all of the key league races around the country.

The Northern Junior Hill Running League has U17, U15, U13 categories and most have fun runs for younger athletes. Please contact the race organiser if you require further details. Information on each race can be found on www.scottishhillrunners.uk (details for Abriachan will also be published here)

Best 3 scores from the 5 races count in the league. Race one was Craig Dunain on 22 March

That's the field all setup for tomorrow and the £6000 of prizes made up for the athletes, get yer kilts on and come along and enjoy the day.

A windy day is forecast, one good thing is it will keep the dreaded midges away, mind they've been well fed over the last few days while we were setting up!!!!

Along with the skirl o the pipe in the piping competition, we have the Strathpeffer and District Pipeband playing throughout the day, athletics Inc running, jumping and of course the grass track cycling, the wonderful heavy events with our new Strath Clachneart event. Don't forget the hill race which starts at 12pm

Today marks the beginning of the 2025 International Clan Mackenzie Gathering — the first to be held in a decade, proudly hosted by the Clan Mackenzie Society of Scotland & the UK

We at Castle Leod are honoured to be part of this long-awaited celebration of shared heritage and kinship, and we look forward to welcoming Clan Mackenzie members from near and far throughout the week.

The Gathering will culminate in a special Clan March as part of the Strathpeffer Highland Gathering on Saturday 9th August, followed by a spirited tug o’ war with our auld rivals (and good friends!) the Clan Munro.

To all those making the journey — fàilte. We look forward to welcoming you home.

Get your swords out for the battle is almost ready to commence, the Strathpeffer Gathering is on the 9th August, we have members from the Clan Mackenzie Society of Scotland & the UK & the Clan Munro attending.

We have some special events this year with the first Clan Mackenzie v's Clan Munro Tug-o-War, watch them battle it out for Clan supremacy. Also the International Haggis hurling event, visitors & children's races and lots of fun and entertainment for the kids on the sideshows. There will be lots of yummy Food Trucks and our Craft Village to look around

OF course we will have the Strathpeffer & District Pipe Band in attendance, the local events will kick off in the morning at 11am, the Hill Race starts at 12pm and all other Open events start from 1pm.

Entry is £10 for Adults and £5 for concessions, with a free full colour program and free parking.😎 We have contactless and of course can take cash too.

Three weeks until the Strathpeffer Gathering, put it in your calendars so you don't forget.

We'll have Highland Dancing, Solo Piping, Highland Heavyweights, The Hill Race, Track Athletics and Cycling, fun events for kids and visitors as well as side shows and lots of food trailers and craft stalls.

All dogs and humans welcome and all entry tickets are available at the gate, we have cashless or bring cash so you can spend it at some of our stalls on the day.
