New Ancient Event Alert: This year we will have an event added to the program which has not been contested for 150 years - QUOITS:-
Quoits is one of our country's oldest traditional throwing sports. The game was played by many clubs across Scotland and was included at most of the early Highland Games. Indeed, it was often the first to be included in the programme. There is only one Quoits Club left in Scotland, at Stonehaven. Quoits were last held at Highland Games in the Highlands over 150 years ago, but the game is being revived at the 2026 Strathpeffer Highland Games.

The object is to throw a metal ring (the quoit) so that it lands as close as possible to a metal pin, known as the hob or peg, set upright in the ground. The quoits that finish nearest the peg score, provided they are closer than the opponent's nearest quoit. At Clubs, quoits were thrown into a clay bed, but at Highland Games, they were thrown onto grass.

The event will be open to everyone, so if you would like to take part in our ancient tradition of Haggis Hurling or Quoits then come along on the 8th of August.

There will be prizes of a bottle of Malt Whisky for the 1st Open category and 1st Female in both the events!
