The Lizz Ketterer Trust & Ketterer's Men

The Lizz Ketterer Trust & Ketterer's Men We will do this through the Lizz Ketterer Trust, our registered charitable trust, based in the UK.

All the profits of the productions will be dedicated to the establishment of an annual award in Lizz’s name allowing a young student from Texas, Lizz’s home state, the chance to follow in her footsteps and attend the Winedale Shakespeare programme, where Lizz first learned her passion for Shakespeare in performance. It is our great wish that our productions will begin a chain of consequence that e

nds with a life being changed for the better, in a way that would undoubtedly have brought a big smile to Lizz’s face. We hope you can join our group of friends to help us realise this wish.

A real pleasure to welcome two Winedalers to Stratford this year, Grant Gilker and Will Larsen, thanks massively to the generosity of the James Loehlin foundation in offering to partner with us to co-sponsor two scholars a year from now on. This is the second year of our collaboration, and we couldn't be happier or more excited. Massive thanks to Laurel Loehlin and the team for making it happen, and long may it continue! And thanks to all those who have supported, and continue to support, the Trust.

Dear friends,
It’s been exactly 10 years since we lost our beloved Lizz Ketterer. Her tragic and untimely passing at the age of 31 prompted us to start on an amazing journey of celebration of her life, her beautiful personality, and her personal and intellectual legacy. Since then, our theatre company, Ketterer’s Men, has mounted a total of 11 productions, big and small, raising many thousands of pounds for the Trust. We have been supported by friends doing walks and play readings to raise funds and awareness. We have awarded travel bursaries and doctoral awards for students at Lizz’s alma mater, the Shakespeare Institute, and for delegates of the annual conference that she once chaired, BritGrad, the British Graduate Shakespeare Conference. And we have awarded 9 Memorial Scholarships for as many hugely talented young people from Lizz’s earlier alma mater, the Shakespeare at Winedale programme at the University of Texas at Austin, enabling by them to come and study Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon.
Today is a sad day in which we remember Lizz and the huge hole that she left, so suddenly, in the hearts of so many. We send our love to all her family, and to everyone who has been touched and changed by Lizz’s kindness and infectious enjoyment of life. We are proud to think that our work of a decade would have brought a smile to her face.

In loving memory of
Elizabeth Ann Ketterer (1979-2011)

We’ve already raised enough to cover next year’s scholarship from last night and tonight’s pre-sales alone, which is amazing, so thank you so much to everyone who’s bought in! For everyone still on the fence, there’s seriously wonderful creative work in this show that deserves to be seen- it’s not just about being nice to a charity (though that matters a lot too). I was blown away by the sheer invention of it, and Alex Thom as Quince is worth the entrance fee alone. His Bottom, Bronwyn Barnwell, has told me that she wouldn’t have had the confidence to pursue postgraduate study in Shakespeare were it not for winning the LKT scholarship, and Christopher Lew, now at Brown doing an MFA in Performing Arts, the same. We’re super proud of the work we do and the difference we are able to make through your help, and we hope even more of you will consider joining us tonight! If you want to see the show but can’t make the time, just buy a ticket and send us an email @ [email protected] asking for a link to the recording we’re making of the shows. Or buy a ticket and send the link to someone you think might like to see it. But, whatever you do, just buy! Thank you, and we hope to see you in a wood near Athens later ...

Dear friends, we are raising funds in memory of Robert Ball, a dear friend of the Trust, who worked tirelessly with Ketterer's Men for a long period of time, including our inaugural production of Hamlet (2011), Love's Labours Lost (2012) and our biggest fundraiser to date: W. S. Gilbert's Rosencrantz and Guildenstern (2012), with which the Trust raised almost £1,000 in a single night. We need a substantial amount to cover his funeral expenses, and we also want to contribute to the Theatre Artists Fund, a charity that awards grants to freelance theatre workers who, like Robert, are struggling in the current COVID-19 pandemic. Please donate as much or as little as you can spare.

Weʼre raising money to Robert Ball's funeral and memorial collection. Support this JustGiving Crowdfunding Page.

Our new show, The Comedy of Errors, opens tonight, on what would have been Lizz's 40th birthday. We're really pleased and proud to celebrate and honour her through the work we continue to do, including welcoming this year's scholarship winner, Mandy Whited, to Stratford last month. Please consider coming along, or donating anything you can spare to the Trust's Paypal account, accessible via the website. It all helps!! Thanks, and have a great one.
