Another welcome consignment of wind turbine blades coming into the P&O port at Cairnryan. Flat calm on Lochryan. Odd looking specialist vessel....it's actually moving inbound (right to left).

Storm Amy.... If Storm Amy has impacted due to any power outages, D&G Council have asked that residents be advised that much information can be found at https://www.dumfriesandgalloway.gov.uk/news/2025/storm-amy-update-council-services
This relates to the availability of warm hubs etc should cooking facilities be needed and to help folk get a warm place and a bite to eat should a power outage be present for any length of time.

There's also loads of advice on travel on the roads (potential blockages by trees etc), as well as reporting power cuts, fallen trees etc.

As a resilience group, we will be monitoring things very closely and local to the Cairn area as well as Cairnryan village as a whole. We will be checking things out locally with our own team members as time goes by and will provide more information as needed.

Best advice currently is to stay inside unless in a genuine emergency....keeping warm etc. Keep phones charged up and phone us on 07702 242100 cif you need assistance (or just advice if you feel a chat will help) from the resilience group.

Of course dialling 999 is the go to advice in a full emergency situation..

Thanks go out to the P&O Ferry Port staff here at Cairnryan, on their 'safety day'. Grand chance for our Group members to chat to local teams including RNLI, SVM, and Paul of the P&O catering team "Bake my Day" (their scones are delicious"). On a lighter note, the smartly dressed 'nursery kids' from the "busy bees" seemed to enjoy getting to hoot the hgv horns.

Good to see the Cairnryan Port being used, not just for Ferries. We had the turbine blades, and now methinks the tower(s). So renewable energy for the grid being supported as well.

Our thanks go out to the Portpatrick Community Development Trust and Nicholas Lloyd of Galloway First Aid. Today we were invited to attend their Emergency First Aid at Work L3 (VTQ) course. Instructor Nick Lloyd was excellent and hugely informative..... in particular on CPR and Defib use. The course was great but not forgetting the hospitality of the PCDT at the Portpatrick Community Hall.
