As the excitement of the World Cup takes over stadiums and screens, we’re reminded how powerful football culture can be — bringing people together in passion, energy and celebration.

But for some, match days can also be a time when tension, fear and abuse increase at home.

Let’s be clear:
🟥 Domestic abuse is never caused by football, alcohol, or a result on the pitch.
🟥 It is a choice.
🟥 And it has no place in our homes, our communities, or the game.

This campaign sends a clear message:
⚽ Violence gets a red card
⚽ Controlling behaviour gets a red card
⚽ Intimidation gets a red card
⚽ Coercive control gets a red card

💚 Own My Life Programme – Starting Soon 💚

Wigtownshire Women’s Aid will be running our Own My Life programme starting 15th April, which will run locally.

Own My Life is a 12-week recovery course for women who have experienced domestic abuse. The programme helps women understand the impact of abuse, recognise the tactics used by perpetrators, and begin to rebuild confidence, independence, and control over their lives in a safe and supportive group environment.
