It's Loneliness Awareness Week and we're continuing to shine a light on the amazing work the Home-Start network staff and volunteers do to combat loneliness.

We're sharing some words from a supported mum who had a really tough time with her birth, spending a lot of time in hospital with her daughter.

She felt lost, alone and didn't know where to turn.

But her local Home-Start came along and helped her.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing continuous training and development for our staff and volunteers, we have two important training sessions coming up next week:

Child Protection / Safeguarding Training

First Aid Training

We've been really enjoying our Peep sessions at our Machars Family Groups, led by Emma! 💜

Peep sessions support children's early learning and development through fun, everyday activities that families can enjoy together. They help build confidence, communication skills, language development, and positive relationships, while giving parents and carers ideas to continue learning at home.

In recent weeks, we've been exploring different spaces and environments, encouraging curiosity, observation and discussion about the world around us. We've also been learning about our names – recognising them, talking about what makes them special, and developing early literacy skills through playful activities.

It's been wonderful to see the children and grown-ups learning together, sharing ideas, and having lots of fun along the way. Thank you to Emma for leading such engaging and enjoyable sessions!

Research shows us that our first 1001 days are the most important. Even though we don’t remember much of it as adults, our experiences as babies shape who we are.

Before we talk, we are developing confidence, self esteem, physical skills and connections with others.

Having good infant mental health lays down the foundations for all future development, allowing us to build healthier adult brains.

Our early intervention at Home-Start acts as a building block for a child’s development.

At our Tweenies family groups, we've been exploring how everyday household items can become amazing play opportunities. 🧺📦✨

Who knew a laundry basket and a cardboard box could provide so much fun? With a little imagination, families enjoyed lots of laughter, creativity, and time together—showing that expensive toys aren't always needed to make special memories. ❤️
