Bad day at the office for the boys yesterday, as we were defeated by a well-drilled and energetic young Bute side who scored three goals in each half to come away 6-2 winners on the island.

Roddy Cairns opened the scoring after 22 minutes as he grabbed his 7th of season with a close range effort deceiving the Bute keeper, with Sandy Paterson grabbing our other goal in the second half with another tidy finish.

The boys will use this defeat as a lesson and look to regroup as the second half of the season commences for us later this month.

One positive from yesterday was the performance of Spencer Thoms. The young winger was excellent throughout the 90 and was fully deserving of this weeks Man of the Match. Well done Spencer!

Spencer is kindly sponsored by Caledonian Laser Services.

The club would also like to congratulate Col-Glen Shinty Club on picking up their first victory in the Premiership on Saturday with a 4-2 win over Lochaber - we knew it was coming and hopefully the first of many!

With eight players missing from our starting 12 that defeated Stirling the weekend prior, the boys travelled to Lochgilphead in the Bullough Cup knowing they had a big task ahead.

Despite a valiant effort from everyone involved, the home side proved too clinical in front of goal and booked their place into the next round with a deserved 4-2 victory.

There were many positives to take from this defeat - the returning Duncan Smart gave the boys a two goal lead in the first half with a couple of decent strikes. Big Dunc is home for the month and the club is delighted to have him back.

Donald Macdiarmid & Liam Robertson returned to the defence and both put in very decent shifts with the pair playing limited shinty between them this season.

But it was James Roy who was chosen as our Man of the Match on the day. Jimmy slotted in at centre and looked at home in the middle of the park, putting in a gigantic effort against an energetic Kilmory midfield. James is sponsored by LML Lift LTD. Well deserved Jimmy πŸ‘πŸ»

It was an emphatic win yesterday afternoon, as we opened the first of a double header at The Clachan of Glendaruel.

The boys ran away 15-0 winners against a Stirling side who were missing a couple of key players yet continued to battle throughout the 90 minutes.

Ken Lawns struck 4 during the opening 45, with Marty Hall, Sandy Paterson and Hunter Black also getting in on the action to give us a 7-0 lead heading into the break.

Some fresh faces were introduced after the break, as we extended our lead to 15 thanks to a further three goals from Marty, another from Sandy, a Roddy Cairns double, a tidy finish from Spencer Thoms and a first goal for the club from Kyle McMartin.

Almost everyone in a blue shirt could have been chosen as Man of the Match yesterday, but Martin Hall was a standout in the forward line. Marty dictated the play from the point and chipped in with four excellent goals.

Martin is kindly sponsored by LML Lifts LTD.

We’d like to thank Col-Glen Shinty Club for hosting us yesterday - the boys had a fantastic day. We look forward to hosting the next double-header in Strachur later this season.

We’d also like to thank The Colintraive Hotel for the excellent post-match hospitality 🍻

We go again next Saturday, away to Kilmory in the Bullough πŸ”΅βšͺοΈπŸ‘ Dunoon Camanachd
