⚠️ IMPORTANT – PLEASE BE VIGILANT ⚠️

Members are asked to remain vigilant while fishing on the River Mourne, as there has been evidence of recent poaching activity on the river.

If you see anything suspicious or witness any suspected poaching, please do not approach or confront anyone. Make a note of any useful details, including location, time, descriptions and vehicle registration numbers where it is safe to do so.

📞 Report any suspected activity immediately to a Club Committee member or directly to the Loughs Agency.

Protecting the River Mourne and its fish stocks is the responsibility of us all. Your vigilance could make a real difference.

Please share this with fellow anglers and keep an eye out while on the river.

Our salmon stocks are under increasing pressure, and we all have a responsibility to help protect the future of this iconic species.

We are strongly encouraging all anglers to practice catch and release wherever possible. Every salmon returned safely to the river gives our stocks a better chance to recover and helps ensure future generations can enjoy the sport we all value.

As part of our commitment to reducing angling pressure, the Club will cease issuing day tickets from 1st August for the remainder of the season. While we appreciate this may disappoint some anglers, we believe this is the right and responsible decision given the current state of salmon numbers.

We also encourage other clubs, fisheries, and angling organisations to consider taking similar measures. By working together and putting conservation first, we can make a real difference to the future of our salmon rivers.

Thank you to all our members and visiting anglers for your understanding, support, and commitment to protecting our fishery.

Protecting our fisheries is everyone's responsibility. If you witness suspected poaching or spot signs of pollution, report it to the Loughs Agency promptly and with as much accurate information as possible, including the location, time, and any photos if it is safe to take them. Timely and correct reporting helps protect our rivers, fish stocks, and the future of angling for everyone. Working together, we can make a real difference.

Yet again people find it acceptable to throw bags of rubbish into the river in the middle of the town! This has been reported to council waste enforcement and we will be asking for prosecution for those responsible.
