Community Safety, Health & Wellbeing Project

The Community Safety, Health and Wellbeing Project has been developed to support older people and vulnerable residents across the Strabane community through education, prevention, social engagement, health awareness and access to support.

The project recognises that community safety is about more than preventing crime. For older residents, feeling safe is closely connected to physical health, mental wellbeing, social inclusion, confidence and knowing where to seek help when concerns arise.

Through community information events, social activities, health and wellbeing initiatives, crime prevention awareness and partnership working, the project aims to ensure that seniors are better informed, more confident and better connected to their community.

The central message is that older people should feel safe, respected, included and supported, while having the knowledge and confidence to seek assistance when required.

Physical Health and Wellbeing
An important objective is encouraging older residents to take an active interest in their physical health.

The project as funded Neighbourhood Renewals PCSP Consensual Fund and will provide accessible information on healthy living, general wellbeing and recognising when professional advice may be required.

Most importantly, the project reinforces the message that no one should feel they have to face a problem alone.

By bringing people together around friendship, support, inclusion and respect, the project contributes to a safer, healthier, more confident and better-connected Strabane community.
