Cedars Park WI

Cedars Park WI in Stowmarket are a group of ladies, who meet on the first Wednesday each month And do we sing Jerusalem? Only on special occasions!

There is no need to live on Cedars Park to join us – our members are from all over the local area. We have a diverse mix of ages, interests and personal circumstances, and come together for a bit of ‘me time’ each month. Along the way we make new friends, be inspired to try new things, find out more about interesting topics or just be taken out of our comfort zone a little! It represents the roots

of the WI in the Suffragette movement, which are also seen in the colours of green and purple in our logo. Membership is £46 a year which includes eleven meetings as well as access to a range of additional activities, the opportunity to join in with wider local and national WI events, Denman Online courses, a monthly magazine from the Suffolk East Federation and ten issues of the national WI Life magazine. Visitors are welcome to all our meetings, with no obligation to join, for a small charge of £4.50 (apart from Freebie February!) and are able to try us out three times before joining. Membership runs from April to March and fees are pro-rated if you join during the year.

New year, new interests? Need to get out of the house? Come and see what we do!

Our monthly meetings are just a part of what happens at Cedars Park WI. This week we've got a book club meeting and then a pizza tasting night as part of our regular programme of extras. Plus our members are always able to find a friend or two to go to a show or to see a movie with through our members' only WhatsApp community.

We had a great end to the year with a Mexican Christmas party last night! Margaritas, sombreros, piles of chilli and tortillas, tres leches cake and more! 🇲🇽🎄🍹🍰

If you’re interested in trying out the WI we have three meetings left of our current programme. Visitors come for just £5 apart from February which is free! Meetings are at Cedars Park Primary at 7.30pm.

7th January - Circle dancing…a chance to burn off some Christmas indulgences! 💃
4th February - FREE taster night…carousel of craft, food tasting, learning about WI campaigns 🧀🧶🪧
4th March - learn some British Sign Language 👌

Last night we celebrated a brilliant, jam packed year of meetings! And yes, that's us singing Jerusalem after a fabulous session on singing from one of our members.

Ever wondered what we get up to in the WI? There's so much going on with our monthly meetings, 'Bit On The Side' extras and also our members getting together to arrange their own trips and socials.

Visitors are welcome at any meeting but keep an eye out for details of Freebie February 2026 where we'll be having a taster evening of all the things we love to do.

Lovely to welcome Amy from Suffolk Owl Sanctuary to our meeting this evening!

Learning all about their work and what to do if you find a bird, and how baby tawny owls like to throw themselves out of trees and they don’t necessarily need picking up! 🦉🌳🪂

Unfortunately we’ve been let down by our planned speaker for this evening so instead of our advertised evening about coffee, we’ll be talking wilding! We have a new speaker lined up to get us discussing how we can make gardens and other green spaces much better for wildlife - a timely topic given the announcement today about the decline in butterflies.

Visitors always welcome! Just come along at 7.30pm to Cedars Park Primary school.

Visitors are always welcome at just £5 a meeting or you can get a whole year of membership plus access to monthly extra meet ups, free online learning courses, and a monthly magazine for just £51 (we can take your visitor fee off this if you join on the night). 💜🤍💚

Fabulous Freebie February! We welcomed 10 visitors along to our meeting this evening to try us out with some beer tasting! Some surprises in our tastings as we compared alcohol and non-alcoholic versions and even a beer you can take to the gym (got to love the German attitude to drinking!).

Visitors always welcome…come along to a future meeting for just £5.
