Mentor Link We aim to make young people from Worcestershire, Shropshire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and The West Midlands feel more positive

If you are at school and live in one of these areas and would like to find out if mentoring could be available to you, please contact us via: [email protected] / txt: 0780 5937347 or ring 01299 822336. Mentor Link is dedicated to supporting young people who may be facing difficulties. These may include family breakdown, relationships, bereavement, low self-esteem, poor behaviour/performance and school attendance. We support these young people by providing them with a volunteer mentor from the local community. The charity receives referrals from the local schools and our staff work within each school to organise referrals and on-going appointments. Mentor Link provides independent, non-authoritarian adults who befriend young people in an informal way. It provides young people with a regular, reliable and an independent adult role model who is there for them.

At Mentor Link, we’re delighted to have Mentor Janet Newman, who takes her retired ex-racing Greyhound Luna, on mentoring sessions.🐾🐕🐾

Originally scared of loud noises and children, Luna was taken to public places to expose her to different sounds, lights and interaction with children.👨‍👨‍👧‍👦

Luna soon became to love children and was registered as a ‘Pets as Therapy’ dog (PAT) several years ago.🥰

Janet says, “My mentee loves Luna and it's really helping with our visits!”

ADHD Awareness Month 2026 takes place from the 1st of October until the 31 October 2026, helping to raise understanding of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), challenge myths, reduce stigma, and share evidence‑based information.💪🦾🥰

Children can struggle to concentrate in lessons, finding it hard to follow instructions or wait their turn in conversations. It can also affect their sleep and well-being.

Our patient Mentors help children with ADHD, spending 1-2 hours a week with them, playing games, or doing crafts, teaching coping mechanisms and offer support through listening.🦸🦸‍♀️😇

James is originally from The Wirral near Liverpool and is a keen sportsman, participating in cricket, golf, football and is a big Liverpool fan!⚽️🏏🏌🏻‍♀️

He also enjoys painting and music, so has many skills and life experiences to offer a child through mentoring!🎼🎹🎨
