Clent Connect

Clent Connect A friendly, vibrant, socially inclusive community hub incorporating a café and small shop. A Community Hub with Café and Shop at the Heart of Clent.

Clent Connect is a Community Benefit Society, born from the outpouring of community spirit and support during the COVID-19 pandemic. In March 2020, the village came together to achieve amazing things – from delivering shopping and home-cooked meals to creating a telephone befriending service. This collective effort brought the village closer and demonstrated the enthusiasm for establishing a perma

nent community hub. The original vision and aim was to “Provide the residents of Clent with a friendly, vibrant, socially inclusive community hub incorporating a café and small shop to create a focus and enhance village life”. We strive to continue this vision now and into the future. The Board of Clent Connect is composed of volunteers from the village who freely contribute their time and expertise to realise this vision. In addition, we now have an amazing and ever-growing team of dedicated volunteers who staff the hub, café, and shop, enabling us to remain open five days a week. The mission for Clent Connect:

Be a catalyst for positive change by facilitating community activities and social interaction

Build a more connected community within the village through a socially inclusive hub

Increase intergenerational socialising
Reduce isolation and loneliness among the more vulnerable members of our community

Provide services currently unavailable in the village, such as essential and staple food items

Offer an essential lifeline for older residents and those without access to cars

Improve mental health for local residents

Mark your calendars – our Summer Market is just around the corner, and it promises to be another brilliant morning, supporting local independent businesses.

On Saturday 20th June 2026, (10am till 1pm), the Parish Hall will be filled with local makers, growers, and talented independent stallholders. Whether you’re hunting for a birthday gift, stocking up on fresh local produce, treating yourself to something handmade, or are simply after an excuse to get out of the house on a Saturday morning for a cuppa, there really is something for everyone.

This Volunteer Week, we’d like to take a moment to share special thanks to all the volunteers that make Clent Connect such a special place.

This incredible organisation exists because of the generous people who give their time week after week. They fill our shop and cafe hub with laughter, energy, and a level of care that is rare to find. Their welcomes are always warm - and not because they have to, but because they want to.

To every single one of our volunteers: genuinely, and wholeheartedly, thank you. You serve the teas and coffees. You stack the shelves. You hold the door open and remember people’s names. You make Clent the kind of place where neighbours are still neighbours and people travel to enjoy our space - and that matters more than our words can ever say.

This Volunteer Week, we want the whole community to know just how lucky we are to have you. 💚💜

We’d also like to take a moment to thank our Community Partners, and , several of whom extend our community out to Hagley. They also volunteer their time and give generous donations to help keep Clent Connect a thriving place to be. Thank you, to you and your teams, for all you do for us.

We saw the generations out in force together this weekend at our Stem Cell Donor Drive x Music Bus event! Thank you to everyone who made the effort to come and make it a success - this is exactly why Clent Connect exists.

We are delighted that 15 potential donors signed up to the stem cell register while they were with us, as well as numerous separate on line kit requests taking place. We also received many financial donations, which will continue the incredible work of this vital charity.

Out in the car park, children of all ages brought a true sense of joy to the music bus as they discovered how to play a range of instruments, from ukulele’s and boomwhackers to the coolest little handheld synthesisers!

A massive shout-out to all our volunteers who generously gave their time for training, and bringing such fun energy to the morning for our visitors!

A reminder that the fantastic - and free - Severn Arts music bus is here this Saturday morning, 30th May. Kids of all ages and musical abilities are invited to hop onboard with their friends and form their own band - with drum machines, synthesisers, guitars, a vocal booth and more! For the grown-ups, the cafe hub will be open as usual throughout, serving a delicious selection of homemade cakes.

In addition to the Music Bus, we will also be hosting the important stem cell drive for DKMS. Anyone aged 16-55 can register with a quick and simple mouth swab. If you’re not already registered, please call in - it could be your first step to saving a life.

**Shop Local, Connect Local**
There’s a simple truth that’s easy to overlook: every time you pop into the Clent Connect shop or stop for a coffee in the café, you’re doing something that matters well beyond a transaction. You’re keeping a volunteer-led space alive - one that was built around people, not profit. This is a place where a retiree might find themselves in conversation with a sixth-former; a neighbour who hasn’t spoken to anyone all week walks in for a teacake and leaves feeling a little less alone; or a new resident to the village makes their first local connections. THIS is what community looks like, and it doesn’t sustain itself on goodwill alone.

The Clent Connect shop, café and hub only continues to exist because people choose them, and that choice has real consequences either way. So please, make popping in a habit - bring a friend for a catch-up, introduce someone new to the shop, or choose to drop in on Saturday morning for a quick coffee between football and swimming classes.

We sincerely look forward to offering you a warm welcome soon (your visit really does make a difference).
