These are the words of Dan, another brain tumour patient I met recently who is part of the campaign group , sharing his thoughts on today’s announcement. I can’t really put it any better myself…

‘There’s so much to say about today’s announcement following Archie Goodburn’s meeting with Andy Burnham, which will lead to:

* A new national brain cancer lead
* An expert review, followed by a national action plan
* MHRA reviews of medicines for rare conditions every two years, instead of three

Part of me is delighted. This is the progress we’ve been so desperate to see. But part of me is frustrated that it’s taken someone with brain cancer having to beg for it.

Now, change needs to happen at pace. Patients can’t wait years for these changes to become reality. For so many of us, this is life or death.

We fight to see our children grow up. To live our lives to the fullest. I’ll never forget taking my one-month-old son to an appointment at a cancer hospital. A place he should never have to know.

This is why the team at Brain Cancer Justice work so hard, and why they’ve been instrumental in getting us to this point.

Today is progress. But now we need action, and we need it quickly. Lives depend on it.’

To the staff, pupils and parents of both Greenfield Primary School and Earls High School, thank you for fitting Wear a Hat Day into you very busy school calendar of events.

If you need a coffee or a delicious cake then pop into Zoe’s and pay her a visit. I can guarantee you will get a warm welcome and a great coffee/cake.

Next time you need a special bunch of flowers or a little gift to brighten someone’s day then pop into Eleven Oldswinford and you’ll be blown away by the range of beautiful items they have on offer. It’s a little shop with a big heart owned and run by a woman with an even bigger heart.

Hattention, Oldswinford is the place to go for a special hat or a lovely new bag and Caz is an amazing supporter of a lot of local charities as well as Brain Tumour Research.

And what can I say about Leddingtons, who were ready to support Wear a Hat Day before I even suggested it. If you’re local to Brierley Hill and you need your hair sorting out then I can highly recommend them.
