Due to the number of people who are still messaging us looking to enter the show, we have decided to extend the closing date for entries until Monday 7th September! 🎉

If you were still hoping to enter, you now have a few extra days to get your entry in! 🐎🏆

📧 We have also emailed everyone who has submitted an entry but whose payment we have not yet received, just to confirm whether you would still like to go ahead with your entry.

📢 A few updates from Lochside Arena! 📢

First of all, apologies we are currently in the process of drafting up the lesson slots for Richard Johnston-Smith's October lessons, so please bear with me while we get back to everyone to let you know whether you’ve got a slot or not.

Again, we’ve had such an amazing uptake and we honestly can’t thank you all enough for the continued support! ❤️ We’re hoping to have everything sorted and everyone contacted within the next week or so.

A wee reminder that entries for the show close tomorrow! I’ll also be starting to send emails out to those whose payments we haven’t yet received.

🤪 Well… I thought I’d give everyone a bit of stress at dinner time! 😂

What an absolutely fantastic 4 days of lessons everyone has had! 🐴❤️

We even had so much demand to add an extra day to make sure everyone could get in, bringing us to an amazing total of 39 lessons! 🙌

And for anyone already looking ahead…

🐎 Biosecurity Reminder
To help protect our island horse population, Lochside Arena operates a Biosecurity Policy. Horses travelling between the Western Isles are welcome; however, any horse that has travelled from the Scottish mainland, or has been in contact with a horse that has travelled from the mainland, must comply with our quarantine requirements before attending. By entering, competitors agree to comply with the Lochside Arena Biosecurity Policy to help keep our horses safe.

Join us for a fantastic day of showing while raising money for a charity that has helped so many people and their families. We can't wait to welcome competitors and supporters.

💥🐴 NEW!! Equine Dentistry 🐴💥

As a practice we are currently loaning a motorised equine dental unit to improve the dentistry services we can offer. If uptake is strong over our loan period the next few weeks, we are looking to purchase a unit for the practice to use ongoing. This service will be largely routine rasping and complete oral examination with and without sedation. 🦷

Our new vet, Nick, who was in mixed practice with an equine bias over the past 6 years is going to lead the service with assistance of the other vets in the team. The current plan, depending on client uptake, is to complete 'area days' with reduced visit costs to minimise travelling time for our vets. Other routine procedures such as vaccinations and bloods can be added onto these visits. The areas we have split the islands into are:

- Barvas --> Ness
- Westside, Bernera and Uig
- Point and Coll to Tolsta
- Lochs
- Harris

Horses in and around Stornoway will be added onto quieter days.

This post is an initial post to gauge interest and exact dates will be confirmed this week once the equipment has arrived and has been tested! ✅

A huge thank you to everyone who booked a lesson. We're so grateful for your continued support of Lochside Arena.

📋 A waiting list has now been started. If a space becomes available, it will be offered to those on the waiting list in order.

📧 Confirmation emails will be sent out over the next few days.

💷 Payment must be received by 10th August. Once your confirmation email has been received, your lesson is non-refundable.
