Islanders At Volunteering Hebrides A Range of Completely Free Social &
Group Activities from Volunteering Hebrides. Everyone needs other people, but not everyone has someone.

For people who become isolated because of ill health, disability or social disadvantage, being matched with a befriender often fills a big gap. Befriending involves providing a way for people to have more social contact through matching them with a suitable befriender. Contact can be once a week or once a fortnight and meetings are usually informal and arranged to suit both of you. It may involve meeting someone in their home, going on outings or social events. The results of befriending can be very significant. Befriending often provides people with a new direction in life, opens up a range of activities and leads to increased self-esteem and self confidence.

A lovely afternoon at our lunch & games today! 🎲🥪

We tried something new this week with Rummikub, which quickly proved to be a hit alongside a classic game of Scrabble! Everyone enjoyed sharing good food and great company.

Our lunch & games sessions are all about connecting, relaxing and having a bit of fun together.

WOW!! We are completely overwhelmed! 🩵✨

We are so thrilled to share that together we raised an INCREDIBLE £4,013.84! A massive heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for our Prize Bingo Fundraiser on Friday night in support of Islanders! Befriending. Every single penny raised goes directly to supporting befriending connections across our community.

To be honest, we never expected such an unbelievable turnout. Looking around the room and seeing so many people come together and support our service, have a laugh and cheer each other on was truly special to us.

We'd like to say a huge thank you to the Caladh Inn for their wonderful generosity in gifting us the Garry Room for the evening and to Balfour Beatty for providing teas, coffees and biscuits to keep us all going. To our amazing bingo caller, Margaret Anne! Your energy kept the whole room buzzing. To our incredibly generous local businesses and individuals who donated such fantastic prizes and to our wonderful team and volunteers who made the night run so smoothly.
