🎻This Friday at Ionad Na Seann Sgoil -Shawbost

We are delighted to have Sgoil Shiabost pupils coming along to our usual weekly coffee morning on the 26th of June.

The coffee morning will be held at Ionad na Seann Sgoil (instead of the usual venue of Raebhat House) allowing more members of the community to attend and enjoy the event. We will have performances from the choir, ceilidh group and psalm group.

In addition, the Horshader bus will be available for a pick up and drop off service, enabling those with limited transport to attend. This service is free of charge, to book a place on the minibus simply give us a call on 01851 701225.

Come along, enjoy a cuppa and celebrate the hard work and talent of the young people (and the dedicated staff team!) in our community as we mark their recent Mod success 🤩

🪴The Hebridean Tree Ark page has been revitalised!

Emma and the team will be keeping the page up to date with the day-to-day activites of the Tree Ark Project across their social media channels, give them a follow to stay in the loop.

A reminder about our AGM a week on Tuesday.

There are important decisions to be made:
1) We need to elect at least two or three new board members - without a board we will really struggle to deliver our priorities for the community. It's a great opportunity to get involved with an impactful organisation; gain new skills; and make a big difference locally.
2) The revised plans for the redevelopment of TOSC will be unveiled. Jan has been working away with professionals and key user groups to identify what needs changed and improved in the building.

We can't get this done without member input. See you there.

Due to an unforeseen clash with the Sgoil Shiaboist PC Fun Day on our orginal date, the Horshader Board have agreed to postpone our AGM until Tuesday 30th June.

Please note the slightly ealrier time too - even though it'll be the school holidays, we want to enable families to attend but still get home early-ish.

NB - the later date also rules out the highlight of the AGM - the attendance of John Moffat from our auditors! We're working with MJG to provide on an alternative presentation.

A few months back Gordon represented Horshader and the other island generators at a meeting with Michael Shanks MP - the energy minister. It's fantastic to see the same points now being echoed at a very high level - community energy needs this kind of support. The benefit back into communities like ours absolutely justifies it!

Horshader BIG Survey 2026

We have currently received 30 responses to the bi-annual BIG survey.

If you have not yet submitted your response there is still time to do so. This can be done online, or by filling in the paper booklet we distributed, it should only take 5 minutes and results are strictly anonymous.

If you have misplaced the form and need a new one or if your form has been completed and needs to be collected, just get in touch and we will be happy to help.

Better late than never!

On the 6th of June we hosted our first Climate and Community Fayre. This event aimed to get local organisations together on your doorstep to provide practical environmental and home energy advice, tasty catering and bouncy castles to keep the day family-friendly.

Many thanks to Climate Hebrides, Clean Coast Outer Hebrides, Tighean Innse Gall - TIG, Home Energy Scotland and our own Hebridean Tree Ark for their attendance on the day.
