🎉🌿 Folks, we are delighted to announce... We have a brand new, free, online training course - an Introduction to Sustainability! 🌿🎉

We've created the course specifically for the Western Isles - there are five interactive modules, covering adaptation, waste reduction, energy, transport, and food and diet, all created in direct response to islanders’ concerns, gathered through our Climate Hub outreach projects.

The course is free, accessed from the Climate Hebrides website, and there's a CV-boosting certificate for those who complete all five modules. We hope the course will inspire island residents, organisations, and businesses to live and work more sustainably; each module offers the knowledge and tools needed to take meaningful local action.

Importantly, the course is island-led; designed and created here, using island-specific training points and featuring a host of island voices - see who you can spot!

🍰 Friday 11am - 12pm - Coffee Morning
🍃 Saturday 12pm - 4pm - Climate and Community Fayre, TOSC

Please note the usual Tuesday morning fitness class will not be running this week. Yoga has now finished but will be returning for another block in September, contact us if you would like further information on this.

The Horshader AGM will take place in TOSC, on Monday 22nd June, at 7:00pm.

We hope to have food and family friendly entertainment on the night - from 5:30pm.

Agendas and papers will go out to all members in the post this week.

Have you received your copy of the Horshader BIG Community Survey 2026?

Yesterday, Billy, Scott and Ali were out delivering a survey to every household in the Horshader area. It’s been two years since our last BIG Community Survey, and we want to make sure we continue supporting our community in ways that truly reflect your needs and priorities.

This year’s survey focuses on the following key areas:

You and your household
Health and wellbeing
Food security
Energy consumption
Employment and crofting
Community and culture

You can complete the survey by hand or online using the QR code on the front page. Once finished, you can drop it off at the office, or if it’s easier, a member of our staff team can collect it from you.

Event Reminder - Climate and Community Fayre Saturday 6th June 2026

📅 Date: Saturday 6th June 2026
📍 Location: Ionad Na Seann Sgoil -Shawbost
⏰ Time: 12pm to 4pm

Join us for a day dedicated to our land, our coast, and our shared future. We’re bringing together an inspiring group of organisations working across climate action, biodiversity, energy, and community wellbeing.

Sarah from Climate Hebrides will be on hand to offer expert advice on EVs and their suitability for island life. Shona from RSPB will have interactive games for little ones. Janet from Clean Coast Outer Hebrides will be available to discuss the charity’s mission and how to get involved. TIG and Home Energy Scotland will offer impartial advice on support and schemes for local residents. And of course, our very own Emma will be there to talk all things Hebridean Tree Ark, with an interactive activity planned.

For catering, Clann an Latha an Dè will be running a charity café to fundraise for their mainland trip, serving delicious home baking, teas, and coffees. For something more substantial, Piotsa will be on site with fresh wood‑fired pizzas.

Weather permitting, we’ll also have a couple of inflatables in the garden thanks to Pursuit Hebrides — fun for the young and the young at heart.

There truly is something for everyone.
