Stony Steppers Formed in 1997 a strong & enthusiastic dance side. Step clog dancing is fast & intricate percussive steps, wearing clogs with wooden soles & leather uppers

Stony Steppers, based in Stony Stratford in Buckinghamshire, first formed in 1997 and has now developed into a strong, enthusiastic dance side. Step clog dancing involves fast and intricate percussive steps, wearing clogs with wooden soles and leather uppers. This traditional form of dancing dates back many years, and was particularly popular in the 19th century in the industrialised North of England and the Music Halls and Variety Theatres. We dance traditional step clog in a variety of styles, mostly from the north of the British Isles, including steps from Lancashire, Durham, Lakeland and East Fife. Some of the dance steps even originate from America.

STOP PRESS! The Stony Steppers will be appearing at the official unveiling of the Mapstone at Market Square, Stony Stratford tomorrow (17th) at 2.00pm.

The Mapstone is designed to celebrate the town and its identity, adding a new piece of public art for residents and visitors to enjoy.

It was a wonderful evening of music, food, community and hope at The Old School House, Stony Stratford, raising money at the Nepal Relief Fund Festival.

Opening night (21st) saw Steppers musicians in Vivant, 3pm and of course, the marvellous Mark Prescott Folk All Stars!

The Festival continues until Thursday (24th), do please support this worthy cause! 🖤❤️

The Steppers held a meeting to review our dance season this year and to plot ‘n’ plan venues and material for next year. After a short while, music broke out. Well we just can’t help ourselves!

Don’t forget, Steppers musicians are all involved in the Nepal Disaster Relief Fund Festival next week, at The Old School House in Stony Stratford 🖤❤️

AND WE’RE DONE! A brilliant closing night to our B**r Garden Tour of 2026, with Rapskallian Morris at The C**k Inn Potterspury.

The light had virtually gone by the time we started; it’s definitely time to call it quits! We’d like to thank all the pubs that have hosted us, sides who have danced with us, musician pals that have joined us for sessions and most of all YOU, for following and supporting us.

There’s a wrap party for us next Wednesday, then we’re hanging up our clogs and going into hibernation. Well, not quite! We’ll still be practicing routines away from the public gaze and expect to see us at Stony Lights at Christmas and a New Years Day celebration somewhere.

All details will of course appear here, you’ll be the first to know. For now, the season ends and it’s clogs away… until we see you again x 🖤❤️

OUR LAST NIGHT! Seasons change, evenings are drawing in and tonight (9th) will the last dance out of our B**r Garden World Tour of 2026.

We’re going out with a bang, with a return visit to The C**k Inn Potterspury and will be joined once more by our good pals Rapskallian Morris. Come enjoy one last evening of music, dance and song with us, 7.30 for 8.00 🖤❤️

The evenings are drawing in and the nights are getting chilly. Our B**r Garden Tour of 2026 is coming to an end but we’re not over yet; the FINAL dance out of the season will be this Wednesday (9th) at The C**k Inn at Potterspury. Here we go! The Stony Steppers are appearing at BunkFest in Wallingford tomorrow (5th). It’s a brilliant festival and absolutely FREE! If you’re planning to come along, do please look out for us!

Bullcroft Dance Stage : 10.30 til 11.00am
High St MMR: 11.30 til 12.00, then 1.00 til 1.30
Bullcroft Dance Stage: 2.30 til 3.00
