Just learned some sad news: John Blanche, one of the major architects of all things Warhammer, has passed away.

Blanche was known for the dark, gothic, occasionally bizarre, and unmistakably punk-inspired style of his artwork; a vision that helped define the look and feel of the worlds of Games Workshop for generations of hobbyists.

Countless hours mesmerised by his artwork in the 3rd Edition Warhammer 40,000 rulebook and even recently found ourselves inspired to try and recreate elements of his unique style.

Blanche leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire artists, painters, writers, and gamers for years to come.

"The fallen shall be forever remembered as the Emperor's finest."

UK Games Expo 2026 has officially been our biggest event ever.

This year we welcomed a record breaking attendance of 87,837 people across the weekend, with 51,196 unique ticket holders joining us at the NEC for an unforgettable celebration of tabletop gaming.

From packed gaming halls and exciting new releases to tournaments, live entertainment, roleplaying games, painting competitions and special guests, UKGE 2026 was bigger than ever before.

These incredible numbers would not have been possible without our amazing community. Thank you to every visitor, exhibitor, volunteer, guest, trader, publisher, designer and member of staff who helped make this year's Expo such a success.

Thank you for being part of the UK's biggest hobby games convention. We cannot wait to welcome you back next year.

Blood Bowl message from one of our Discord members!

Good evening sports fans,

Welcome to our Spring and Summer Blood Bowl League season.

With it being a new edition of the game keeping it fairly simple is the aim to begin with.

After a bit of reading round and watching some videos it seems that the current 7's rules have some kinks with the new version of the rules that need tinkering such as the inducements. It looks like there'll be some new 7's rules coming later in the year. So maybe a winter 7's league in thr future.

So it's going to be a fairly standard 11's League.

1,000,000 gold build teams.

Standard points from the book so 3 for a win, 1 for a draw etc....

Fixtures - Each player will play 1 fixture against each other player in the regular season. Which will be a League format. At the end of the regular season the top 4 coaches will go through to play off's. 1st place will play 4th and 2nd place will play 3rd place. The two winner will play a finals game for the Cup and the two runners up from those games will play in a Plate final. Leaving fixtures a little bit flexible does mean that the league could accommodate a couple of late arrivals if anyone else wanted to join in on the fun.

Timing - There'll be a two week window for coaches to get their games in for each round of fixtures. Games can be played on any club night so Tuesday, Thursday or Sunday.

Teams and Tiers - Any of the updated teams that have been released so far are okay to use. With it being a League format we won't be using the GW Tiers for teams. They seem more for matched play tournaments rather than league play.

A packed afternoon of gaming and hobbying today!

We’ve got a great mix on the tables, including Warhammer 40K, Bolt Action, D&D, and plenty of general hobby time.

Our two D&D groups are in full swing - one continuing their ongoing campaign while the other braves the frozen wilds of Icewind Dale in a one-shot adventure.

Over on the wargaming side, we’ve got two Warhammer 40K tables running (including an intro game for newcomers) and a Bolt Action battle unfolding.

Rounding things out, we’ve got a dedicated hobby table for building, painting and bringing projects to life.

Something for everyone!

The second Call to Adventure is coming next weekend, 18th April, running between 10am and 5pm, completely free to all attendees and designed for those just getting into gaming and younger audiences. This year we have a paint and play, several live childrens shows, huge numbers of drop in games, and also organised play and two main halls, one for the wonders, one for the games.

Tickets are available at https://dragonmeet.co.uk/tickets, but we are limited on numbers and would recommend booking early to avoid disappointment.
