Hi, my name’s Liam Fenton. I’m 21 years old, I’m autistic, and on 8th August 2025, I’ll be taking on the biggest challenge of my life — running the MTC Oxford Ultra, which is 49 miles long!

It’s going to be tough — 49 miles is almost double a marathon — but I’m determined to complete it because it’s for a cause that means a lot to me.

Since I was 16, I’ve been volunteering at the Samaritans charity shop in Stoke. Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how important the Samaritans are for people who are struggling. Our local branch, Stoke & Newcastle Samaritans, is completely run by volunteers and fundraising — they don’t get government funding — and they’re there 24/7 to listen and support anyone going through a difficult time.

I want to give something back by raising money to help them continue their amazing work. Every penny raised will go straight to the Stoke & Newcastle branch to help keep their phone lines open and their services running.

Training for this ultra has been a massive challenge, but knowing I’m doing it for a cause that’s so important gives me the motivation to keep going.
If you’re able to donate, even a small amount, it would mean the world to me — and to everyone who relies on Samaritans when they have nowhere else to turn.
