Christmas Spiders 🕷 🎄

The tradition of the Christmas spider comes from Eastern European folklore—shared across Germany, Ukraine, and Poland, and explains the origins of tinsel and good-luck tree decorations.

The Legend

A poor widow (or mother) could not afford to buy decorations for her family's Christmas tree. Her Child stop the Mother from killing the spider, so in thanks, As the family slept on Christmas Eve, the spider crawled onto the tree and spun intricate cobwebs all over the branches.

When Christmas morning arrived, the first light of day touched the webs and turned them into silver and gold, filling the family with wealth and joy

We are appealing for information following a burglary at a business in Stoke-on-Trent.

Between 3am and 5.15am on Monday (12 October), three unknown men broke into a warehouse at Asda on Scotia Road in Tunstall and left with boxes containing stock.

Officers are making enquiries and examining CCTV.

Anyone with information should contact us by calling 101, or via our website, quoting incident number 248 of 13 October.
